‘Didn’t expect to win two Filmfare black ladies’ – Ayushmann

Ayushman KhuranaAyushman Khurana, who was named best male debut and also the best male playback singer at the 58th Filmfare Awards, said he was least expecting to win two Black Ladies as the award statuettes are called.

“I had my own set of conspiracy theories and I had met Jitesh (Pillai) (Filmfare magazine editor) for the first time and I told him, ‘Sir you will give it to someone else, what will happen to me, no one knows me here, I have come from Chandigarh.’ He said ‘I don’t decide, we have a set of jury members who do’,” the 28-year-old said here Tuesday at the unveiling of the magazine’s special awards edition.

Ayushman won the award for his film “Vicky Donor” while he won the playback singer awards for his song ‘Paani da rang’ from the same film.

He says he did not have any expectations also because of the kind of debuts 2012 saw.

“I was not thinking at all, expectations were minimal. It was the year of the debutantes and everyone was so good, everyone is a package,” said Ayushman, who came into filmdom along with other new faces like Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra.

Now that Ayushman has two Black Ladies, he confesses he is simply overjoyed.

“I was expecting one award, I was nominated in two categories and I got two awards. I couldn’t believe. It feels good when life gives you surprises, you should have least expectations,” Ayushman said.

“I did not expect, I am a very practical person. But I am just overjoyed, in seventh heaven right now that I have got two beautiful Filmfare ladies at my place,” he added.

Ayushman will soon be seen in “Nautanki Saala” and will start shooting for “Hamara Bajaj.”
