The third instalment in the super-popular ‘Dhoom’ franchise, released in theatres today. After two stellar performances by John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan in the first two films, its Aamir Khan’s turn to play super villain in Dhoom 3. Vijay Krishna Acharya, who last directed Tashan, replaces Sanjay Gadhvi, the director of the first two films. Does Dhoom 3 live up to the humongous expectations? Let’s find out.
The film starts with the ‘The Great Indian Circus’, which is mortgaged at the West Chicago Bank in Chicago. The circus is owned by Iqbal (Jackie Shroff) who has taught his son Sahir (Aamir Khan) all the tricks of the trade. Due to budget constraints, Iqbal kills himself as he is unable to continue running the show.
Dhoom 3 Movie Review
A few years later, West Chicago Bank is robbed by a thief who only leaves behind a Joker’s mask. He doesn’t leave any clue behind, because of which the police is unable to nab him. The Mumbai police, headed by India’s best cop ACP Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan) and Ali (Uday Chopra) travel to Chicago to investigate the case and nail the criminal, as the thief leaves behind a message written in Hindi.
Meanwhile, Sahir reopens his father’s dream, ‘The Great Indian Circus’ and hires Aaliya (Katrina Kaif) to assist him.
The rest of the film is a revenge tale. Sahir is determined to destroy the West Chicago Bank, while Jai and Ali take it upon themselves to catch him red-handed. Who wins the battle? Watch the movie to find out.
Dhoom 3 Movie Review
Screenplay and Direction: Dhoom 3 delivers everything that it promises and more – high-octane action sequences that sometimes does tend to test the limits of your logic, a super-hot leading lady, a super cool villain who is always one step ahead of rest, a super-cop hell-bent on nabbing the thief and amidst all the emotion and action Uday Chopra provides the much-needed comic relief. But what makes Dhoom 3 the most gripping of the three films is the highly emotional storyline – without revealing much, you feel for Aamir’s character in the film especially in the second half.
Scenes to look forward to:
- The introductory scene of Jai and Ali is hilarious, what with Jai making a grand entry on a rickshaw and eventually succeeding in riding his three-wheeler on top of the slums in Mumbai.
- Sahir’s first robbery is high on action and extremely unrealistic, but it works big time. In fact, the audience were laughing and whistling all the way through!
- Katrina’s strip tease in her introductory song Kamli. Aamir asks her to entertain him for 5 minutes in a way that he shouldn’t be able to take his eyes off her. What follows is a subtle strip tease that the men in the audience will love!
- The last 20 minutes which includes the highly emotional climax
- Revealing more would kill the suspense element that the film has. So in short, every action scene is worth the price of your ticket!
Technical aspects: Dhoom 3 is high on production value, a lot of money has been spent on design, filming the action sequences and also the songs. The results are outstanding. The film’s music is a mixed bag. Dhoom Tap, Kamli and Malang stand out, not because of Pritam’s composition, but more due to the way the songs have been picturised, choreographed and performed. The only major gripe with Dhoom 3 is its length. At close to 175 minutes (2 hours 55 minutes), the film stretches way too long.
Performances: Dhoom 3 was probably the biggest test of Aamir Khan’s career, a role that many thought he couldn’t pull of with the same energy, magnetism and charisma of his predecessors (John and Hrithik). But Aamir excels, he is brilliant in Dhoom 3. (Spoiler alert: He delivers the performance of the year as Samar, award-deserving). Katrina Kaif has very little to do, except look stunning in every frame, which she does. Abhishek Bachchan plays his role well, he has more to do here compared to Dhoom 2 where he was completely out shined by Hrithik’s presence. Uday Chopra is brilliant, he will forever be remembered for playing the character of Ali.
To sum things up, if you loved the previous two films, you will love Dhoom 3. It has everything that you hoped for and a lot more in the form of a solid storyline. Go for it. You won’t be disappointed!
Box Office: The film has already opened to packed-houses all over. With no competition in the next few weeks, Dhoom 3 has all that it takes to break all previous box office records and set new ones. Winner all the way!

That part had Hro playing an international criminal that was never caught by any international police force, and finally by Jai and Ali.
So, there’s your logic. When you can’t solve the case locally, you get the CBI. If not, then the interpol.
Got it?
Here the case wasn’t solved and hence international experts were called, who happened to be from the same country as the smart thief.
I hope that makes sense.
Now let us enjoy the movie, while you may catch up some ridiculously silly garbage logic english movie that creates history with worldwide biggest collections called the Skyfall – Aka James Bond crap.

all the excitement & wait come to the end today, since the announcement of Aamir in D:3, i am keenly awaiting only this film since 2011 and the wait is worth,its 300% entertainment.
for me the movie is Best Dhoom film ever because this Dhoom have intriguing value and smart script.
Aamir is Best, no one can be like him.He played his character in full of conviction, those who are saying Aamir doesn’t suit the Dhoom role and on bike, will chew their words when they will watch the movie in theatre, completely agree with Indicine team this movie is Sure shot blockbuster.
Abhishek bachchan said in an interview to Bollywood Hungama in 2012 that the Character of Aamir in D3 will be his one of the best role, and he is absolutely right. He also said that Aamir is one actor who just not mamking his character looks good, he also helps other co-actor and their performances, and again he is Right, Abhishek’s Performance in D3 is Best in Dhoom till date, no doubt he is talented and always an underrated actor but loved him immensly in D3,bravo man.
Uday Chopra whatever some says there is no need of Jai and Ali in Dhoom, but it is fact no one can replace the charm of Jay and Ali bonding in Dhoom series, Uday is fantastic as Ali and thoguh he has not a good acting carrer but Ali is the character on which he can proud of all his life, Uday we will miss you if there is any Dhoom 4,5….
Katrina’s role was slightly unnecessary but whenever she come on screen, you can’t put your eye away from her, she is so beautiful in the film.
Vijay Krishna Acharya who has one flop Tashan, the man struck gold this time, he did brilliant job by making D3, this is way better movie overall than Dhoom1 & Dhoom2 (i am not saying as i am Aamir fan but this is fact you people know once you see this).His story telling,screenplay and direction are top notch, Kudos to Aditya Chopra for having faith on an unsuccessful director for YRF Biggest film D3.
Malan song is outstanding to watch, Dhoom tap and Kamli was alos good.
Overall this is the movie who will creat 300cr club domestic and 500cr worldwide, no one can stop this movie to achieve this, not any cycic critics or haters (better to hide your face).
I am happy that i haven’t read any single review of any critic before watch D3 and after watching the review of critics who found movie is avg/bad, i would feel pity on them, suc a big fools they are. But it is possible critics like Raja sen who had given 1* to 3I, he found D3 better than 3I as he given 1.5* to this, still can’t stop laughing.
P.S.-Those HR fans and Aamir Haters who think only HR made Dhoom big as it was today (though he did but not alone its more due to John,Abhi & uday) will feeling pity as after D3 its proven again that there are better actors in the industry like Aamir, who can looks Stylish & convincing both better than anybody.

Feeling proud to be An Aamir Fan, he showed he can be A Salman,SRK,Hrithik and Akshay if he want but to be an Actor like Aamir other require higher grades but Ace is only one hat is Aamir.
and a final word why guys want logic and reality in movie like Dhoom, did they think whatever project on screen by any movie is too real, you feel great when you wathing a superhero film, did they really exist in the world, you are liking movies like Dabangg,RR and there action sequence, is it possible for a man to fight with 10,20 or 50 people at a time single handedly, than why to find logic and real stund in movies, don’t make fool yourself by saying this, be practical, a movie is mostly an imagination and fusion of impracticable things.

Horrible movie. I’ve see Nolan ‘ s the prestige many times. Every time it is on tv, brings a smile to my face how smartly it was written and directed respecting the audience intelligence. Wonderfully acted by bale & jackman. Dhoom 3 is just poor ripoff. Badly acted and directed. Aamir khan does not fit the role at all. Incredibly boring movie.
I could watch the movie until interval bcuz suddendly I got some work so had to leave the theater in midway. I admit I am not a Aamir khan fan but what I am going to say is true. If I have to describe Dhoom 3 first half in 2 words then it’s an ” utter bore ” Expectd a lot from Dhoom 3 bcuz, in every interview Aamir khan was seen saying he wanted the audience to go wow after watching, only and only due to this dialogue and the confidence he had shown in the film I thought that movie would be out of this world.
Lemme say one thing very very honestly. After watching krrish I really wanted to see it again for one more time same was with Chennai Express. Since I watched Dhoom until interval, I can’t even think of watching the first half again.
No body cares for logic in the movie even I dont. But audience expect little logic according to the genre of the film. How could Aamir win the trust of Abhishek, in such a way that Abhishek shared all the security details to Aamir who is just claiming to be a circus artist and friend of a Thief! , Aamir to Abishek, I’m a friend of a thief and could help you to catch him and Abishek believed it, wow! Can any one clarify this unbelievable logic or else I have to believe that Aamir took a short nap while listening to the narration.
Film looks beautiful but there are many boring moments here and there and not even a single thrilling moment. Bikes looks dalmn good but bike stunts were below avg. -Overall an horiible first half and, hope second half to be good.

@ Indicine..i had always had good opinion on your review’s for all movies as they were very close to accurate…But surprisingly for Dhoom 3 i could not believe that you gave 4 stars to this movie…To be frank i am big fan of Aamir & Hrithik…But after watching Dhoom 3 today i dont think it deserves not more than 2.5 stars. I had gone with group of friends and only one among five liked this movie. I felt this movie overall good but there are many flaws which you did not identify in your review as you do for rest of movies. The flaws of movies are such that you can’t talk about any vow factor in the movie after coming out of the movie. There is no repeat value for this movie…
The positives:
1) Aamir

3) Aamir…
The only positive in the movie is Aamir’s acting, he is simply mind blowing and proves again why he is called a gem in Bollywood..
The Negatives (so many):
1) Aamir – Katrina pair did not work for me…Katrina is a mismatch here due to her height that is more than Aamir and the fact that she has nothing to do in this movie except only in songs…Katrina wasted….
2) Music & Background fails miserably, definitely not a Dhoom standard…
3) Dhoom franchise is known for showing off a robbery in style with good execution…There is no such scene in movie where they show him doing any robbery. All stunts looked unrealistic and there is just chasing…
4) Hero’s entry fails miserably..his first scene running down the building was just a joke which kept all laughing not Uday’s jokes…neither his tap song was impressive…
5) Too much of bike chasing, dragged chasing scenes…though it looked cool but repeating it thrice in the movie was very irritating…he should have choosen some other form to run instead of choosing bike every time..
6) except for the first 10 minutes of 2nd half where they reveal secret …rest of 2nd half was very boring…
7) climax did not work for me..dont want to reveal it but it looked stupid when Abhishek tells in the last that they will be available on a bridge next morning..how?…he always used to tell that a thief will be only caught during robbery….
8) the vow factor of Dhoom 2 was clearly missing here..hrithik’s entry dance, execution of robbery and his style was totally missing… Dhoom 3 just had emotional attached to it without Dhoom…
9) not last but least ..duration of 3 hrs was irritating many..
Overall the movie was good for one time watch just for Aamir’s acting…however i am very happy that the movie is doing great business..

The hat of dhoom 3 Aamir character is borrowed from a bank heist 2011 movie called TAKERS. Hayden Christianson charecter has that black hat all the time when his team is heisting bank or aarmored truck filled with cash.
