Detective Byomkesh Bakshi has taken a better-than-expected start at the domestic box office. The holiday for ‘Good Friday’ has helped the film take a good opening, even though the pre-release buzz wasn’t upto the mark.
The best start has come in West Bengal circuit as the film is based and shot in Kolkata. Other cities like New Delhi, Noida, Bangalore, Pune have also opened well.
The major competition for Detective Byomkesh Bakshi comes in the form of Hollywood release ‘Furious 7’, which has taken a record-breaking start at multiplexes all over the country. The Sushant Singh Rajput starrer is also a multiplex-targeted film, so the business throughout the day will be affected by the extraordinary response that ‘Furious 7’ has got.
In comparison to other releases this year, the opening of Detective Byomkesh Bakshi is better than films like Baby and comparable to a film like Badlapur. All other films, expected ‘Detective..’ released on a non-holiday.

Dbb is not that gud.. There r too many loopholes in script..Climax is very badly written..overall its a slow paced film which is troturous to bear.. Sushant is not a star yet..
