The phase between the 2012 film ‘Cocktail’ and 2015’s ‘Piku’ has been the best phase of Deepika Padukone’s career. Almost all her films, with the only exception being ‘Finding Fanny’, have not only recovered their investment, but gone on to be huge grossers at the box office.
While Deepika’s presence has ensured a decent opening, it’s the presence of Shah Rukh Khan that has given her two of her biggest career grossers and opening days at the box office.
Happy New Year remains the highest opening day for a film starring Deepika in the lead, followed by Chennai Express. No other film has crossed the 20 crore mark. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ram Leela and Race 2 (holiday release) are her other films that opened very well.
