‘Dear Zindagi’ has collected Rs 32.5 crore in its first weekend at the box office, ahead of big films like ‘Mohenjo Daro’ (30.55 cr) and ‘Shivaay’ (28.56 cr). The collections are around the same range as Alia Bhatt’s last film ‘Udta Punjab’ which showed a similar box office trend over the weekend.
After a good weekend, ‘Dear Zindagi’ now needs a good hold on Monday (today). The film needs to collect somewhere around 60-65 crore to recover costs for the distributors and more than 50% has already been recovered in the first weekend. As far as the producers are concerned, ‘Dear Zindagi’ is a big winner as the film is also performing phenomenally well at the overseas box office.
A 5-crore Monday would be a solid hold, while anything less than 4 crore would make recovery difficult in the long run. ‘Dear Zindagi’ will face competition from ‘Kahaani 2’ this weekend, so the kind of response that film gets will also be a factor.

It is a movie to which every youngster of this generation would relate to it … It is a slow movie but after 50 min when srk entered on the screen everything is magic … Brilliant performance of srk and alia nailed it .. But for surely if dear zindagi don’t have srk and content then it would have been a Max 20 to 25 cr grosser .. So gauri played a masterstroke by adding srk in dz ..

After the flops like Phanka, DZ (Depressed Zebra), the braees will be his third consecutive flop. No matter by which means he has booked maximum screens for braees, the audiences will prefer Kaabil as it has entertainment vaalue.

Nobody will invest 100 cr plus on a movie which caters to single screen. The fact is Ajay made this movie mainly for multiplex audience, but it got compltly rejected due to no direction of rohit shetty, Ajay’s low stardom and competition from a far popular starcast . FACT
Shivay just mangage decent business in single screens due to festival time and The ADHM was a youth friendly movie so people opted for Shivay in single screens in diwali occasion…and his fans r like it got footfalls in single screen.. Lol..the footfalls for a movie like shivay should have been in multiplexes.
