Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge continues it’s record breaking run at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai. This week, the Shahrukh Khan – Kajol classic entered it’s 900th week of uninterrupted run.
A source from the theatre informs “The magic of DDLJ’s evergreen romance continues to bring audiences to the theatre. The matinee show (11:30 am) sometimes runs to packed houses, with young lovers, students and even married couples queuing up to buy tickets. The older generation gets nostalgic, they have so many memories attached to the film”
When asked if the film will complete a record 1000 weeks in 2 years, he says “we have no plans of discontinuing the screening of DDLJ. It will run for 1000 weeks and more”
DDLJ was a break-through film in Shahrukh Khan’s career, as the superstar made the switch from anti-hero negative characters to boy-next-door romantic roles. The film remains one of the biggest hits in the history of Indian cinema and also made SRK a huge star outside the country.
