We had clarified in several QnA sessions that there was no truth to rumours of Aamir Khan releasing ‘Dangal’ during the Independence Day weekend.
On his 51st birthday, Aamir rubbished rumours and speculation around the release date of ‘Dangal’.
The actor re-confirmed that the Nitesh Tiwari directed film will hit theatres during his favourite and most successful release period, Christmas.
“Even I have heard this rumour, but there is no truth to it. It is apt for the movie to come out on 15th August, but no we are not releasing it on Independence day. Dangal will come out on Christmas only” Aamir said.
There you go then, Dangal releases Christmas 2016. Solo release.

A cult classic for sure.Dangal looks high on content and Indicine has already made their predictions.Both commercial and critical success is like ‘sone pe suhaga’.
Aamir and X-mas is a terrific combination.Dabaang2,Don2,Dilwale released on xmas and we know the result.

An elite audience goes to watch a movie that has good content, acting among other factors. Aamir has those skills. Knowledge of content is a gift man – that’s why despite smaller fan following his films garner huge collections and footfalls. But, fools run to cinema just because of their so called inspirational super star.
BTW I don’t know whose die hard fan you are. Just grow up man, stop being a stupid. Appreciate movies that are good man, and more importantly stop demeaning actors or movies simply coz your star is not in it. Anand, A Wednesday, the lunchbox, taare zameen par, Bajrangi bhaijaan, swades, airlift, neerja (and the list goes on) are all good movies man: appreciate all good movies dost.
Very smart move. When it was speculated that Baahubali 2 will be releasing on Christmas, Amir showed his interest in releasing Dangal at Independence weekend, coz he very well knows that Baahubali 2 will easily thrash Dangal if clashed.
Now when Baahubali makers confirmed that it will be releasing not before 2017, he again come back to Christmas and want to play safe.

@ Fasal Kerala : Amir has been unstoppable at Christmas. So when u r predicting 100 or 150 cr u r betting against history which is not wise. Just a brotherly advice.
From what we have seen in the past I think Amir will ensure that this movie is in no way less in content than PK or 3I. The last time he probably went wrong with content was probably way back with Mela/Mann and that is quite a long time back. So the chances of him going wrong with content is negligible.
