Sequels galore in Bollywood and it simply cannot get bigger than this – the follow-up to 2010’s biggest blockbuster “Dabangg” with a much bigger, equally entertaining sequel that is bound to match its predecessor’s histrionics. It’s indeed a tough and risky task to come up with a worthy sequel/follow-up as it ought to match, if not cross, the level of the original. However, the success of the movie, regardless of the quality demonstrated, is inevitable mainly because of the roaring presence of an unstoppable box office juggernaut Salman Khan.
Two years back music directors Sajid-Wajid gave the best music of their career in the form of Dabangg. If the music of Dabangg was any indication, Dabangg 2 is sure to be filled with melodies and high-flying item numbers that will take the nation by storm. Sure, Sajid-Wajid have faced expectations before, but none compared to the ones they face today. Not only will their skills be pushed to the limit, but their versatility and adaptability will be tested more than ever before.
I think I went through a minor anxiety attack when I received the music CD – probably because I kept hoping that Sajid-Wajid can give us that one score that will just knock your socks off, especially since their previous 6 soundtracks this year (Ajab Gazabb Love, Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal, Ishkq in Paris, Teri Meri Kahaani, Rowdy Rathore and Tezz) have definitely not been up to expectations.
Here we go then.. the music review of Dabangg 2!
Dabangg 2 Music Review
Dagabaaz Re: The video of this song is already on air as Chulbul Pandey is seen with wife Rajjo in all his ‘wooing’ moods. This romantic number has a complete ‘Tere mast mast do nain’ hangover, in terms of tune and picturisation. And the similarities continue into the vocals, as it is Rahet Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Ghoshal once again. The quality and melody of the first song from the film, sets the right tone for the rest of the item numbers to follow. The traditional harmonium alaaps and table beats light up this simple tune. Despite being very similar to ‘Tere mast mast’, it is full of flavor and very enjoyable. (4/5)
Pandeyjee Seeti: Music lovers were offered an energetic ‘drunken song’ in the form of ‘Humka Peeni Hai’ in Dabangg. An effort is made to create a song on the same lines with ‘Thaane mein baithe on duty, Bajaawe haaye Paandey Jee Seeti’. Wajid and Shreya Ghoshal come together to croon this raunchy number. But the real masterstroke and icing on the cake is to get Mamta Sharma sing 2 lines of Munni (definitely picturized on Malaika Arora). Just a few seconds into the ‘Munni’ part and the all too familiar and popular notes from the evergreen Raj Kapoor classic ‘Chalat Musafir Moh liyo re’ engulfs the listeners and any novice can say that Sajid-Wajid have another chart cracker of a number up their sleeves. (4/5)
Fevicol Se: Man O Man!! Smoldering! This boisterous, fun song is totally for the masses and has the potential to shatter all records. It’s high on Nagada and Dhol beats with Mamta Sharma again at the helm to some masaaledar hatke cheeky lyrics from Sajid, Wajid and Ashraf Ali. Take special notice of how seductively she renders the line “Mere Photo ko seene se yaar, chipkaale saiyaan fevicol se”. It has superhit written all over it, as Kareena Kapoor is expected to perform some electrifying latka’s and jhatka’s with Salman. This is the track that gets your body swaying unknowingly and is a perfect foil to Munni Badnaam. (4.5/5)
Saanson Ne: The album slips into mushy mood with ‘Saanson Ne’. Sonu Nigam and Tulsi Kumar team up to give us a love ballad which is reminiscent of “Chori Kiya Re Jiya”. The song manages to hold its ground in front of other numbers on the album. Lyrics by Irfan Kamal are beautiful. (3.5/5)
Dabangg Reloaded: Sajid-Wajid try to recreate the sensation they stirred in their earlier Hud Hud Dabangg , but it’s not to be, as the task is simply too difficult to accomplish. The track is a little too heavy on percussions but perhaps the effect might show onscreen. The song starts off very well but the lyrics by Jalees Sherwani and vocals by Sukhwinder sounds exaclty like the original and the song turns out to be kind of a remix version of the previous classic. (3/5)
Remixes: To complete the album, we have the club remixes of ‘Pandeyji Seeti’ and ‘Fevicol Se’. These are fast remixes and have some fast beats for attracting DJs.
Rating:
Although there is a certain common vibe in all the Dabangg 2 tracks with the sounds of prequel, they are still distinctly different from the original tunes. Yes Sajid-Wajid have delivered again for Salman and we have sureshot chartbusters in ‘Pandey Jee Seeti’ and ‘Fevicol Se’ which will make audience dance in single screens.
Surpassing all the comparisons and expectations, music of Dabangg 2 leaves a mark of its own. Of course when the film releases, people will all but forget the gentlemen behind the music as all the songs are composed as an extension to the personality of Chulbul Pandey.
Opening records will be shattered this Christmas. Kamaal karte ho Pandey Ji ! Go buy the music!

Best music of the year . . Hope sajid wajid win again for Dabangg 2. . . Seeti bajake. .
All songs are beautiful. DAGABAAZ RE & SAANSO NE are two of the extremely melodious tracks of the album. They are very romantic & Indian at heart. SETTI is going to be another rage. i can visualize Salman dancing in that tune. FEVICOL is undoubtedly going to be the MOTHER of all item numbers. The catchy lyrics will add to it’s charm. Overall THUMBS UP. Brilliant job by Sajid-Wajid. 4.5/5
