It’s time to attach ‘SUPERSTAR SALMAN’ before the opening credits of Salman Khan films, like they do with Rajnikanth films. When it comes to sheer fan-following and craze in India, Salman is in a league of his own.
People are dancing on the streets to celebrate the release of the film. The atmosphere inside single screens is equally electric – seethis (whistles), taalis (claps) are greeting Salman Khan, who has attained demi-god status. The release of Dabangg 2 is being celebrated like a festival, much like people down south celebrate the release of Rajnikanth films.
It’s not about the film, the director, the banner or anything else – it’s all about Salman Khan!
Not only has Dabangg 2 opened to an absolutely earth-shattering response at mass centres, the occupancy at premium multiplexes too has been equally good.
The opening day box office collections will easily cross the 20 crore mark. If the film can further pick up for the evening/night shows, the first day collections could well touch 27-28 crores nett.
For a film released on a working day – these are mind-boggling numbers. To put things into perspective, the previous record for a working day release is Rs 14.4 crore held by Rowdy Rathore. Dabangg 2 might double it!

Yesterday, BOI predicted re-adjusted figure of 18-19 crores from morning prediction of 24-25 crores after tremendous DROP in afternoon & evening multiplexes screens.
Today, the “ACTUAL” Day 1 collection held up to 19.21 which makes BOI predictions accurate.
Dabanng-2 DID NOT cross 20 crores at all let alone comfortably for Day 1.
Signs are clear at the “territorial breakdown” of Dabanng-2 at MULTIPLEXES. Its been rejected by multiplexes audiences.
From Monday onwards, expect huge drops. Dabanng hit it off with multiplexes & SS both. Not the case with Dabanng-2 at all.
