Vidyut Jamwal’s Commando has opened to a mixed response at the box office. As expected, due to it’s genre (action), the film has opened well at a few mass-dominated centres, but the opening at multiplexes is dismal.
There are reports of Commando running to full houses in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Even at cities like Lucknow, Patna, Ghaziabad and Allahabad, the Vipul Shah produced film has opened very well.
Prashant Solanki, General Manager Cine Park Valsad (Gujarat) says “Action films always open well at our multiplex, so we have 6 shows of Commando (5 for Nautanki Saala). We had promoted it well here and the film has taken a fantastic opening at Cine Park, Valsad. We expect a better turnout over the course of the weekend”
Unfortunately, the ‘houseful’ boards are restricted to only a few screens, as Commando has proved to be a non-starter at most circuits. The opening in Mumbai city was as low as 10-15%. In the South, there are reports of a few shows being cancelled due to lack of audience.
