Cocktail Box Office Collections

Cocktail has collected approximately 11 crores nett on Day 1, as per early estimates. It’s the biggest opener for both Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.

The film has fared exceptionally well at urban high-end multiplexes, while business at single-screens (limited release) was on the lower side throughout the day.

As the occupancy was high on Friday, Saturday is likely to be slightly lower and Sunday could see good growth in business. We expect the weekend to be around 33-34 crores.

As for the response, it’s been good. The target audience – urban youth – has liked the film. It’s unlikely to have much impact at single-screens  or with the family audiences.

The 11 crore figure may not look ‘huge’ compared to some of the massy masala films, but this is the best-ever opening for an ‘urban romantic’. Similar films like Ek Main Aur Ek Tu managed just about 5 crores nett on Day 1.

Monday – Passed the crucial first weekday test with flying colors. Collections were steady all over. With no competition this coming with, Cocktail is likely to dominate at multiplexes.

Tuesday – Witnessed a slight drop, but remained steady at multiplex. Should pick up again during the second weekend.

Week 1 – Fantastic business in the first week. Went past the lifetime collections of Saif’s last release Agent Vinod in the first week itself.

Second weekend – The film hasn’t sustained as well we expected it to. Lifetime business should be around 75 – 78 crores nett.
