Chennai Express has collected Rs 25.21 crore in its second weekend at the box office. The film dropped on Friday due to the release of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara, picked up on Saturday and crossed the 180 crore mark on Sunday.
The release of OUATIMD made little or no difference to the overall collections of Chennai Express, as the film continued its historic run at the box office. In South India, CE is by far the biggest grosser in the history of Indian Cinema.
In the overseas markets, after collecting $12 million in its first week, Chennai Express added approximately $3.3 million in its second weekend to take the overseas total to a mind-boggling $15.3 million (Rs 91.8 crore). The film is faring exceeding well in the U.S – the 10 day total now stands at $3.96 million (Rs 24 crore), only behind My Name Is Khan ($4 million) and 3 Idiots ($6.5 million).
Chennai Express also became only the fourth film after 3 Idiots (385 crore), Ek Tha Tiger (330 crore) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (310 crore) to cross the 300 crore mark worldwide (gross).
The Shahrukh Khan – Deepika Padukone starrer now needs to collect Rs 20 crore at the domestic box office to cross the lifetime collections of 3 Idiots (202 crore).

- 2nd Friday – 6.48 crore
- 2nd Saturday – 8.51 crore (31% growth)
- 2nd Sunday – 10.22 crore (20% growth)
- 10 Day Total Collections – 181.92 crore

Chennai Express is having a good run at the box office despite competition from the new release Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobaara. Shah Rukh Khan’s popularity and Deepika Padukone’s praiseworthy performance is making the film do wonders at the box office. This rom-com made a business of approx 25 crores in its 2nd Weekend, taking its domestic total to approx 181.60 crores at the box office.
The Rohit Shetty film is abundant of car flipping in air action and has some genuine laughable moments too. Though faced with strong competition at the box office, the film is treading towards the 200 crore mark before completing its three week’s run at the Box Office, which is quite a possible mark to achieve for the film which has fared remarkably so far.

CE has done v gud business but you guys are reducing srk standard by comparing it with 4 yr old record set by classic 3I with 1100 screen 70% lower ticket price than CE.

Chennai Express had a good second weekend of around 22.50 crore nett and took its business to over nearly 168 crore nett. The film grossed 5.50 crore on Friday, 7.50 crore nett on Saturday and 9.50 on Sunday.
The collections are the fourth highest ever for the second weekend after Three Idiots and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Dabangg. The film had already become the highest grosser ever in Nizam/Andhra and Tamil Nadu/Kerala after seven days and over the weekend Mysore was added to the list and soon it will also become the highest grosser ever in West Bengal.
The business on Sunday was on par with the new release Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara which is excellent considering that Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara is a big film.
Trust me people are watchng film only bcoz of rohit shetty.

Tckt price hiked, more no.of screens are the reason for CE success acc. to d haters. Everytime srk movie comes it has highest no. of screens becoz his demand is more than any other star….infact CE had a disadvantage wen compared to ETT & 3I becoz both this movie had 3 open weeks where as CE has to face tough competition every week but still this romcom wil surpass 3I.
