After smashing all existing box office records on Friday, Chennai Express is set to cross the 60 crore mark on Saturday as morning shows across the country were running to 60-70% occupancy. Noon shows were even better at close to 75-80% occupancy, several shows were running to capacity.
With tomorrow being a national holiday (Sunday), the advance booking for the evening and night shows is excellent. Most shows at multiplexes are sold out in advance. Business in premium multiplexes is about 10-15% higher than a film like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which collected around 20 crores on Day 2.
The Saturday collections of Chennai Express is almost certain to be in excess of 20 crores, but the record-breaking business on Friday was largely due to good / fantastic collections from single-screens in B and C centres. It is in these centres that the Shahrukh Khan starrer has slightly under-performed today, which is normal given the fact that today is a working day in some parts of the country.
We expect the business to be around 24-25 crores, and the second day record currently held by SRK’s Ra One (25 crore) could well be history when the final collections come in tomorrow.

Actually the collection is 29 crores. utv is just telling a bit high number just to show it crossed ek tha tiger so that bizz of film don’t drop . the thing is taran adarsh quoted that figure first . he was the first to come up . but he didn’t give terrorery wise breakup . he is a paid man as all know. since he was the first one to come up in the morning with a figure news sites quoted him. boi and komal came up with it later after calculating the collections from distributers . so the real figure is 29 crore .
well if anybody states 33 crore tell that person to give terrotory wise breakup and you would know the truth . 29 crore is the truth :)

I think Saturday collection will be around 26 crs. He ( komal nahta) is the biggest bastard in trade circle bcuz he forgot his duty that to report the collection correctly. for ett he gave producers figure and for ce he given distributers figure that too minusing 25 lakhs from it. Great power comes with great responsibility but he misused it completely. And to all jealous ppl who can’t digest sharukhs real power shud learn from sharukh fans who accepted salman success including me. Chennai express is a comedy movie like ready but sadly ready wasn’t record breaking as such. Bcuz action movie gets bigger opening compare to’comedy movie.
