Chennai Express has fantastic comedy, action and songs: SRK

Shahrukh KhanSuperstar Shah Rukh Khan picks films instinctively, but he is especially happy with Rohit Shetty’s “Chennai Express” as he believes it is a comedy, action and entertainment-packed project “different” from the intense and serious films he has done in the recent past.

“I do films which I like at a given point of time and as and when I get the opportunity. So when Rohit narrated a couple of films to me two years back, one was the remake of ‘Angoor’ and other was ‘Chennai Express’. I like both of them. But Rohit felt he would like to do the latter one first as it is a bigger film and has fantastic comedy, action and amazing songs,” Shah Rukh told IANS in an interview on the sidelines of the maiden edition of the Times Of India Film Awards (TOIFA) here.

The film, produced by the actor’s wife Gauri Khan under their production banner Red Chillies Entertainment, features Deepika Padukone opposite King Khan. Shah Rukh is, of course, happy with the way the movie is shaping up, revealing that he injured his right shoulder while shooting for the film.

“It’s awkward for me to speak of film that I produce, but I just have to say that Rohit has done me great favour while making a film like this for me. It’s fun and I am enjoying it. Yes, I end up doing very intense films like ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ , ‘Chak De! India’ and ‘My Name Is Khan’, and so, it (‘Chennai Express’) is a nice change for me,” he said.

The Bollywood ‘baadhsah’ also hopes to do more such films in the near future.

“I am enjoying it this way. May be I would continue doing films like ‘Chennai Express’ in future,” he added.

Looking dapper in a black suit, the actor will take to the stage to perform for hundreds of fans at the final day of TOIFA, which has brought a barrage of Hindi movie stars here.

He was in a relaxed mood, and with an excited child-like demeanour, he talked about awards and their significance in his life even after over two decades of being in the industry, and winning lots of them.

“I like awards and I appreciate them. I feel most of the awards that we have in India, are for years of work that we have done, rather than just one show, and above all that, it is nice to see the (film) community together (at such events). We get five seven opportunities a year where everyone get together, so it’s a time to celebrate,” he said.

Even though the escalating number of film awards worries him, he admits, “I like them”.

“The more the merrier. I get most of them,” he quipped in his inimitable style.

At the same time, he says he feels proud to see the love of Bollywood fans whenever he travels abroad.

“I normally don’t go outside, I only come for functions and it is very nice to feel that people love you. More than screaming and shouting , I like the fact that people of all ages, all stages and everywhere in the world appreciate what Indian film is doing,” Shah Rukh said.

Meanwhile, being the co-owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he is busy with the cricket extrvaganza, apart from having his hands full with acting commitments and production assignments. But he is managing it all pretty well.

One lesson, he says, he has learnt of late is to talk about his new projects only at the right time.

“We are making ‘Chennai Express’ and then there is another film called ‘A for Apple, B for Billi, C for Cutta’ (ABC). Two others are in the pipleline, but I would like to keep it a secret till the right time.

“People are just talking about work so much earlier than it is initiated. I don’t like it anymore. I like to talk about things when the film is ready, and only then would I like to take an opinion about what is good and what is bad,” he said.

  • @Navin, Thanks for your concern but u really don’t need to worry about my life friend.
Collections matter for the producers, not for a fan like me who is a SRK fan since Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and whose favorite all time Bollywood film is Swades which is a flop.

Since RNBDJ, I have been watching all his films 4 shows in the 1st day.
Though I respect your consistent attempt on trolling SRKIANS.
Bhai must need fans like you.
    he deserves it.
    :)

  • anyone remember SRK last blockbuster………….its OSO(2007)……SRK is struggling for blockbuster since 2007………..

  • @KING: dude don’t tell lie you are the first one who put negatives comments on Salman pages anyway let’s talk about this movie it might be hit but it will not be a blockbuster for sure as SRK previous 3-movies same result hit.

  • @king I call ‘king’ a buffoon and you get offended by it somehow. You certainly have a high opinion of yourself. You arent a ‘King’ sunshine so calm down and dont get too attached to the ID. Noone that I know thinks you are ‘king’ because I for one still consider you to be the creation of a psycho mastermind calling himself ‘star’ and no amount of pacifying from you will convince me otherwise. You should be lucky though that I no longer suspect you of being ‘xzones’ love child so thats a real compliment to you. :-)
As for your Warning or whatever you call it- thanks but I think Im gonna pass up on it. ;-)
@star King roxXxXxXx but you still suckkkk

  • Salman Khan in Kolhapur

Tight security, large crowds, cheers and hoots – that was the scene at the Sanjay Ghodawat Institute on Friday. The reason was none other than actor Salman Khan. Salman is shooting at the school of the institute for his brother Sohail Khan’s film Mental. He was accompanied by actress Genelia D’souza.

Salman, who himself was surprised by the large crowd gathered there, remarked, “Yeh sab crowd yaha ka hi hain ki bahar se aaye hain? Yaha 3500 students hain. Teen din ka shoot hain… kaise din katenge pata nahin! I am very excited.” He then wowed his young fans as he said in Marathi, “Chala ata bhetuya parat!”

Genelia too spoke to everyone in Marathi and asked her fans how they were doing. Well, it’s going to be three days of only Sallu talk now that he’s here in the city.

  • srk haters have forgotten that he is the only actor to give 4 back to back 200cr grossers even before salman,,the current boxoffice king,,,and only actor after salman who has 3 continous 100cr grossers in india and forget overseas,,,no one is even near to srk…..
the actor with most number of awards and honours from both,,industry and government too…
most number of hits worldwide in last 2 decade and highest success ratio as per indicine report too and on koimoi too…..the no.1 star in terms of consistency….
still srk haters are blaiming on him…
are bhai aamir srk se bada he age me or salmna bhi 1.5 month hi 6ota he…unki umar ke bare me ku6 nahi bolenge log…..
    hats off srk haters….
even you guys are saying that srk should get more than these all….

  • we have only 3 super stars in bollywood today.
    Aamir
    Sallu
    Akki.
this SRK time is over. he is going down since MNIK.

  • SRK WILL PAY FOR THIS IF HE RELEASES HIS MOVIE ON EID.BECSE ALL SALMAN FANS WILL GO TO WATCH OUATIM BECSE HE IS SALMANS BUDDY.

  • @Navin. Dude. I am not going to convince you either.
Think about me, in whatever way you want .You may suspect me for multiple ID’s.
It’s not a big deal for me.
As you did the same inspections with a number of SRK fans saying that all the ID’s are driven by same guy.
Actually, these things don’t bother me.
But your inclusion of my ID in your senseless comments is really an uncomfortable zone for me.
So i am asking you to do me a small favor , which i stated above.
Because i am not in a position to argue with you.

@Aki. Yup. I am agree with you that in the begining , i used to comment at salman pages.
Although, those were not negative comments.Instead of it, those were simple truths. You can verify it with any neutral person.
But as soon as i realized that you salman fans can’t bear anything except admiration of your salman, i completely stopped to comment on those pages.
I don’t know, whether you will accept it or not, but now-a-days, the reality is that i don’t , even ,open a page on indicine, which has a heading about salman or his films.

  • @Tangori: We never said dude about 200-crores as per Indicine recent post 199.25 ETT almost there anyway not like SRK movies who is struggling to pass 100-crores even 103-Crores of JTHJ collects in the name of ETT due to the screens booking policy.

  • @king: It doesn’t change anything if you are reading the article belongs to Salman or not SRK fans except it or not but Salman is one of the biggest super star in Indian film industry, that show in recent STAR GUILT AWARD he totally change the concept of show hosting every single person who attend the show are laughing and have lots of fun and for movie his name is enough for box office collection which is never happen before with any star.

  • @king : let bygones be bygones. Yes, I dont see any negative comments by you on Salman pages nowadays. But we are giving tit for tat for those commenting against salman. Navin shouldn’t have included ur name, but u have replied him in a way which criticizing salman more than Navin. I wud one should practice what he/she preaches.

  • @Aki. So when i said that my comments on salman’s page will affect him???
Everyone has his own thinking. You find it funny to bash on each page of SRK, i find it mournful to comment at any salman’s page.
So , we all have our own way of thinking.

@Hrithik.My comment was typed totally while keeping “navin” in my mind.
There was no such intention of mine to critisize salman in any sense.
If you found so, then i apologize for it.
But i want to remind you that if i comment on any page of SRK, then i only used to talk about SRK.
And those comments are sensible or atleast they imply something.
If i found that a given article is not worthy of my attention, then i just skip that.
The most recent example is TIOFA Awards. When i found that this page doesn’t need a comment , i didn’t post one.
But if someone, still has some problem with me, then in that case i can’t help him to get over it.
However, you should watch those one’s too, who used to talk non-sense , irrespective of the page and content (See at TOIFA page).

  • @aki, @hrithik, Respects and My sincerest gratitude to you guys.
@king ok dude I have to admit its been a good 4-5 months since I’ve noticed anything you’ve said against Bhai so I may have been a tad harsh on you with regards to my first comment where I inserted your name in amongst the other srkians. You didnt deserve that as those moronic apes and barbaric savages are certified psychopaths with the exception of my sweetheart ‘neha’ but you are a good guy it seems. So let me say sorry, I hold my hand up because your name shouldn’t have been in that comment and I will try my best to keep you out of any future comments.
Having said that- dude if you want to have banter with us bhai fans then you are very much welcomed- I have to admit I miss my mentally sick srkian friend ‘xzone’ coz these new henchmen like ‘Damn…!…’ and ‘john cenas toyboy fan’ really are no fun and just make an a*** out of themselves. Ok ‘king’ I hope you can agree to this truce and best wishes in enjoying Chennai Express but as for the other losers, heres hoping they are depressed to their rotten core by Chennai Depress.
@star You suck but King roxXxXx and bhai roxXxXx too

  • I am not fighting with anyone I am talking logically It was a time for SRK rule and he rules when Salman was his friend and he is making film for money and fun every 6 months new girl friend and so much incident happen with him but after the fight with SRK and break-up with ASH he changed himself completely as a person as an actor he took his work seriously and the result shows with his each new movie, the craze the love of people is amazing just amazing, helping people with being human is great Salman is good person and helping nature attitude attract the people and that’s why more and more people like him. SALUTE TO SALMAN SIR OUR OWN BROTHER.

  • @Navin : Thanks !! n kudos to you for making sensible attempt to clarify king.

@king : All is well that ends well. We have nothing personal against srk or any sensible srk fan like you. But it is fun having debates with them, as Navin said we do miss some of srk fans like xzone.

    @aki : well said bro!!!!

  • @Navin.It’s ok buddy and thanks for your previous comment.
You are most welcome from my side at any SRK page for a healthy debate with enough proofs and stats…:)
