The Jungle Book is on a record-shattering run, which is now comparable to one of Bollywood’s best trending films like 3 Idiots. The first week business of 3 Idiots was a little higher at Rs 79.5 crore (including paid preview collections of 2.5 crore), while The Jungle Book collected Rs 74.08 crore.
In the second week too, the difference was about the same with 3 Idiots leading by around 5-10%. But while 3 Idiots had the advantage of New Year and other holidays, The Jungle Book was competing against a big film like FAN – which it eventually managed to destroy.
In the third week, things seem to have gotten a lot more closer. In 5 days, The Jungle Book has collected Rs 24.95 crore, while 3 Idiots had collected Rs 25.25 crore (5 days – Week 3). The difference is almost non-existent which shows that ‘The Jungle Book’, in its third week, is now beginning to show better trends than 3 Idiots!
This is a massive achievement in itself because no film in the last 5-6 years has managed to match the trends of the 2009 film 3 Idiots. Yes, there have been bigger grossers, but the level of weekly drops of ‘The Jungle Book’ is outstanding.
The occupancy and collections of the Hollywood film is now about 4 times more than FAN, and we are talking about a film featuring one of the biggest crowd-pullers in the industry, running in just its 2nd week.
‘The Jungle Book’ is expected to remain unaffected this week too, as Baaghi is a massy film that may not generate big numbers at multiplexes. FAN will be out of most theatres this weekend, which will mean ‘The Jungle Book’ will retain most of its shows this week too.
Rs 200 crore will be difficult, but if the weekend growth this week is big and it can post numbers of around 6 – 6.5 crore this Sunday, ‘The Jungle Book’ might get pretty close to joining the 200 crore club! How big would that be?

@ISSA IBRAHIM…no chance Civil war gonna cross 200 cr…but I guess it has the potential to be a 100 cr grosser coz most of Avengers superheroes are there apart from Hulk and Thor and the trump card will be the introduction of Spiderman who is a crowdpuller…Suicide Squad won’t sell in India despite how good it is looking from the trailers, Tarzan and Warcraft will disappear from Indian BO without a whimper :)

One or two films can’t make the current stars bankable
Only Varun and ranveer seem to have the potential to score big both at multiplex and single screen but they have a long way to go specially ranveer coz two of his highest grossers have come where he has worked with slb and dp
And one more thing when khan trio entered Bollywood they took it by Strom , they came saw and conquered leaving a legend like big b behind even hrithik did the same (intact Salman and hrithik’s debut movies were Atbb;bb) this is something that none of the current star has achieved
Do you remember the last time when a non khan/hr film was the HGMOTY ? It was gadar way back in 2001
My prediction for CIVIL WAR-

Day 2(Good WOM which is reflected in early reviews)- 9-13 crores

Day 6- 3-3.5 crores
Day 7- 2.5-3 crores
Week 1- 40-54 crores
LIFETIME- 65-85 crores

Yes i know they are comparing trend but still it is not comparable to 3 idiots to at all because at the time of its release 3 idiots 1st week (20%),2nd week (approx 100%) ,3rd week (approx 50-60%) ahead of all time 1st week,2nd week and 3rd week collection but here jungle book first week collection was huge no doubt about that but still not at all comparable to 3 idiots.
The only achievement the jungle book have that it is a hollywood movie which is trending so well.

Khan’s arrived when there was a big vaccum for suprstars and megastars. Bachchan was no more a big star & same with vinod rishi sashi dharmendra.
Yes mithun anil sunny were doing well bt they were definitely not superstars.
Bt youngistaan arrived when 3 megastar Khans were performing brilliantly & there were 3 more superstars in d form of akki-ajay-HR.
So it is very difficult for anyone to straightaway break into top 3 or 5 though Ranbir and currently ranverr have almost achieved that.
Anyways it’s a blesssing for the industry to hv so many stars at the same so if some r going through bad form then others can make up for him to some extent unlike past where it was too much about bachchan or dev anand or rajesh khannna
jungle book is an incredible and classy film showing our childhood hero mowgli .. really wt a spectacular screenplay ..
Its a good film but still surprised to see it doing this well…

Vinod khanna , mithum were never huge stars but when Khan trio arrived Sunny deol, anil kapoor were superstars and govinda , sanjay dutt and Jackie shroff were emerging stars so it was not a cake walk for the khan trio to establish themselves but they did it with ease in just 1/2 films but this current lot has not been able to come to this forget challenging
