If any film truly deserves a place in the coveted ‘100 crore club’, it’s Anurag Basu’s Barfi. The film has opened to a fantastic response, collecting Rs 41 crores in 4 days.
Now the big question – Can Barfi join the 100 crore club? Let’s analyse.
Factors in favour of Barfi crossing 100 crores
- The word-of-mouth is terrific, arguably the best for any film this year. The two other films to enjoy a similar response – Kahaani and Vicky Donor – went from strength-to-strength after the initial weekend.
- There is a holiday on Wednesday in several parts of the country for Ganesha Chaturthi and Barfi is likely to benefit. The film is likely to end it’s first week with 55-57 crores of business – which is on par with Raaz 3, even though Barfi had a smaller release and was a film pre-dominantly targeted at multiplex audiences.
- Barfi has tremendous repeat-value. We know a lot of people who have watched it more than twice in theatre.
Factors against Barfi
- The release of Heroine this weekend is likely to impact Barfi. But since both films are UTV productions, they are likely to ensure both have enough shows at multiplexes.
- The first four day figures of Barfi is slightly lower than Bol Bachchan, which just about managed to cross 100 crores. Again, since Barfi is mainly targeted at multiplex audience, it might find it slightly difficult without any support from single-screens.
Either way, Barfi is likely to be Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest solo-hit and has a good chance of going past multiplex-hits like Cocktail and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. 100 crores would be icing on the cake.

Then Taran Adarsh gave 4 stars to Tezz. After the release of Tezz the director Priyadarshan have told that editing was not done properly. 75% of the media gave negative review for Tezz.

After a string of Rs 100 crore grossing films including ‘Dabangg’, ‘Ready’, ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, actor Salman Khan has emerged as the highest taxpayer from the tinsel town for the September quarter. Salman, 46, trumped all his peers and rivals from Bollywood by paying Rs 8 crore in advance tax as compared to the Rs 5 crore in the same period a year ago, an income tax official told PTI here to.
Salman was last seen in romantic- action-thriller ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, which has clocked approximately Rs 198 crore at the box office.
Most of the movies that have crossed the 100core club will not be remembered 5 years from now where as Barfi will be remembered even 50 years from now. I think that is much more important. This movie was ONE OF THE BEST BOLLYWOOD MOVIES I HAVE EVER SEEN.
Its already a blockbuster because of its low cost and did really well overseas bringing the 4 day total (India+Overseas) over 60 cores. Overall(India+Overseas) It will generate over 100cores.

Chandan Roy Sanyal becomes Salman Khan’s fan
Chandan Roy Sanyal, whose last release “Tell Me Oh Kkhuda” had Salman Khan in a special song is now playing a character who is a die-hard Salman Khan fan in his next film ” Bombay’s Most Wanted”.
During a recent schedule of the film, Chandan’s hair was actually straightened and cut in the same way like that of Salman’s in Tere Naam and Chandan is shown replicating many of Salman’s looks in the film.
When asked, Chandan mentioned, “Mr. Khan is a superstar and to replicate him is close to impossible. He has an uncountable fan following and I am undoubtedly one of them, so to be replicating him is a compliment as I don’t think I or anybody can compete with him in anyway whatsoever. Bombay’s Most Wanted is a humble film and my character has been shown as having different shades & according to those shades I keep changing my look inspired by Mr. Khan’s characters’ from some of his earlier films.”
