The big question on Friday is going to be about the kind of initial that Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom’ takes, as it goes up against Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’. The trailer and the aggressive promotional campaign have both helped create quite a lot of buzz around ‘Rustom’, even though the response to the advance booking of both films isn’t upto expectations.
Trade sources say, the interest for ‘Rustom’ at metro cities is higher than Akshay’s last two films – ‘Housefull 3’ and ‘Airlift’.
‘Airlift’ which was targeted at the multiplex audience collected Rs 12.35 crore on its opening day, while ‘Housefull 3’ which was a franchise film and appealed to a larger section of the audience, collected Rs 15.21 crore.
Due to the clash, ‘Rustom’ will be running on fewer shows at multiplexes. So anything in between the first day of ‘Airlift’ and ‘Housefull 3’ would be a excellent opening day total for ‘Rustom’.

Both movies, md as well as rustom are receiving very positive reviews, i guesss this clash is win-win situation fo both movies. The same was in 2002 when lagaan clashed with gadar and later in 2007 welcome clashed with tzp. All movies emerged at least hits.

MD budget is 130 crores. To become atleast a hit, it should have to collect 150 crores which is impossible now. Haters saying that MD is receiving extremely well WOM in Dubai, but what about India? Indian critics and UAE critics are not the same. Final result will came tomorrow and Rustom will win as it had content which MD lacks!!!!

Considering the buzz, trailer, music and genre Rustom should open more than Airlift and less than H3 . Rustom has generated solid buzz . The buzz of Rustom is higher than Airlift, S26 and Baby . The clash with MD is also giving good eyeballs to Rustom . Rustom has been made on a limited budget and Akshay is the Co- Producer so he has not taken any fees but he will share the profits . I am not sure whether Rustom will be must watch or not but as far as the trailer is concerned Akshay will once again deliver a masterclass performance on the lines of S26, Baby, Airlift and Holiday . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

while in case of rustom ,first half is a letdown ,akki’s performance & dialogues r solid but direction is not upto the mark and patriotic angle is worst thing in thw movie…. pace in the first half is too slow that should not be in the case of a thriller …. some court scenes r good & illiana’s acting was also good

Yet, it deserves credit for pitching a story on a case that historically altered the Indian judiciary system.
Manjusha Radhakrishnan from Gulf News: Watch this film if you want to see Kumar in all his noble glory. If you look carefully, perhaps a halo might even emerge from this honourable man. But if you are anything like me, this film would have benefitted hugely from exploring the cracks in his relationships.

it was a graciousness and generosity which hrithik has and that’s what he showed. But has makkhi ever done the same thing to hrithik? Why only hrithik keep talking good about this greedy, selfish, cunning star like akshay when Akshay himself has never tweeted anything good about mohenjo daro? The reason is, he is most selfish actor whose only aim is to earn money and he doesn’t care about his fellow industry actor’s most ambitious project releasing on same date which has lots of hard work and money invested into it. Why is he trying to grab all attentions even though he does maximum films and hrithik does very few films and now only 1 film in 2 years? Why is he trying to get all celebrities into his favour and trying his best to make them stay away form hrithik’s most ambitious film? Even being a hrithik fan, I have to admit that hrithik is making a big mistake by praising this cheap and disgusting actor who is trying to affect his most ambitious film just for his greed. So please no more advise. I know everyone’s color. Akshay is a chameleon who pretends to be so called decent and hardworking actor but in reality he is only a selfish, greedy, character less, self centered guy who doesn’t have any respect for fellow actors’ hardwork. And shame on those who support such people.
