Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has maintained its lead over Shivaay for the 6th consecutive day at the box office. While the Karan Johar directed film is already a profitable venture for its investors, Shivaay still has a mountain left to climb.
At the end of the 6th day, it looks more or less certain that ADHM has won the controversial box office clash and could further extend its lead in the second weekend.
ADHM has also become the highest grosser of Karan Johar’s career, beating the collections of all his previous films without adjusting inflation. If the film does well in its second weekend, ADHM could become the biggest domestic success for Johar after Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001. It’ll also give Ranbir his first big success in 3 years.
On the other hand, Shivaay needs Rs 125 crore at the very least to break-even, which means the film has to double what it has collected so far.

But 2-3 Ajay fans (may be family members) and Ajay himself considered himself Rajnikanth of bollywood, so spend more than what Khans did this year. Anna rascala.

With a budget of 110 cr and ancillary income of ~45 cr, Shivaay needs a theatrical recovery of 65 cr. Assuming the distributor share of 55% due to the business being skewed in favor of single screens, Shivaay needs post-tax theatrical business of ~118 cr. Assuming 8 cr recovery from overseas, Shivaay would break-even at domestic business of 110 cr.
I think you have unnecessarily inflated the break-even point. Based on the collections so far and the audience feedback, domestic business of 110 cr very much possible. For films that are appreciated by the masses (eg. Rowdy Rathore, Ready), single screens do tend to hold well for weeks. I have mentioned these two films because the audience feedback to Shivaay seems quite similar.
Both films will beat flop of the year Fan (84 cr)
What a shame..rather than creating negativity for adhm on every single site they should have watched Shivaay in theatres.
On YouTube Shivaay broke all records then adhm trailer had the maximum dislike ratio despite the trailer not being that bad.The fake pr stunts continued even on IMDb and book my show but eventually there has been destruction of one movie which deserved to have done better but because of ego and insecurity of an actor have now hit a self goal.

Really surprised with the comments. Have you guys watched both movies? Shivay is multitudes of times better than ADHM. All adhm actors are wonderful actors but they have been let down by kjo who takes audiences for granted time and again.
Shivay is not a perfect movie but better than dhoom 3 and many other movies.
Let’s not end up supporting below par movies for the sake of being a fan, we will end up having more of this crap and then we will wonder like we do how Pakistani serials are better. Simple because Indians watched crap and that is what they were fed. Watch both movies and give genuine reviews please

* Shivaay was never a Multiplex movie but single screen hence I thought pre-Diwali has affected its opening and it did great business on Monday as I predicted but it was not enough due to its high budget.
* Yes, still those who watched as still cursing ADHM not only men but ladies as well. Only Kjo lickers like you are praising it. Only Ranbir-Anushka act is good.

The Stat shows that Shivay has been much ahead of ADHM for two reasons:(1) 65% of screen of ADHM are in multiplex whose ticket rates are much higher than single screens whose price are in some cities as low as Rs 60. Despite such differences of collection between the two movies are hardly 10 cr which indicates that much higher number of persons have been watching Shivay than that of ADHM, and(2) Social media and critiques led by Kamal Khan have been deadly against Shivay; yet it has maintained its dominance.
I haven’t yet watched ADHM. But some ladies known to me watched . Now all of them are repenting. All they say that the ADHM is like Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. They says it very badly crafted movie. There is nothing new except kissing and sexual romance which can not be watched by family. But Shivay I have watched . It is a fantastic one.Entire family can watch without any hitch.Moreover the action sequences are unparalleled. I hope all those who have watched Shivay would agree with me. But I feel sorry for Karan Johar who has made movies like Kuch Kuch hota Hai, My Name is Khan and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam of late is ruining with low standard materials like ADHM,Dostana etc; One should rather prefer Suny Leone over Karan’s these vulgar stuffs. Son of legendry Yash Johar who himself started with great romantic and family drama has started turning into as maker of adult movies. I wish Karan returns to his genre we love as entire family . Meanwhile whatever critique says it is SHIVAY which can be enjoyed with all .
