Bollywood’s reaction to terror

Mumbai, India’s economy capital, a potpourri of many communities and cultures and one of world’s most populous metropolitan areas, recently witnessed the worst face of terrorism. Besides being the home to important financial institutions and numerous multinational corporations, Mumbai is also the power house of India’s entertainment industry. People from all walks and talks of life, tired of being resilient, raised their voices loud and clear against such horrendous attacks and the irresponsibility of politicians. Bollywood film personalities , those unable to give direct interviews on television, chose blogs and mails as a medium to clearly express their anger and grief over the repeated terror attacks.

Here’s what some of the bollywood personalities had to say on India’s 9/11:

Amitabh Bachchan

Ever since terror struck Mumbai, Bollywood’s veteran star, Amitabh Bachchan has been blogging regularly. This is what he had to say lately:

‘This is no time to demonstrate gesture. This is the time for me to listen to a leader that shall strongly assure me of what needs to be done and will do it! This is the time for each citizen of this country to act and behave in a dictated disciplined profile. This is the time for those that lead, to educate us all in a common curriculum bearing a common code of conduct. A code that shall bind us all as one collective strength. If the invader has been psychologically brain washed into believing that what he is doing to us is ordained through divine intervention, then let him face 1.2 billion brains that have been ordained in unison to ‘teach’ him how horribly wrong he is,’ exclaims Big B.

Big B demonstrated his solidarity towards the nation by cancelling an invitation for being the guest talker on the Clinton Global Initiative that aims to elevate the conditions of our universe. He also cancelled his participation in Live Earth as he felt it important to be there for his country and his fellowmen, during the troubled hours, rather then be on a charity based event abroad.

Karan Johar:

Director Karan Johar appreciated media’s effort to provide as much of information as possible on the attack and for gathering opinions from time to time.

‘People criticised the media coverage, but how about acknowledging the tremendous amount of bravery that went into tirelessly reporting the horror and carnage? A load of what was showing up on my TV was perhaps misinformation, but for the most part, I felt an undeniable pride towards the journalists, who risked their lives to report some version of the truth. They had educated opinions and I wondered what would happen if certain members of the media were put in parliament. Doesn’t sound like such a bad idea right now, does it?’ he wrote.

Ajay Devgan and Kajol:

Ajay and Kajol rightly said that the tributes should not just last till the crisis lasts. They have great honor for the brave officers and commandos who fought against terror and restored peace.

‘We pay our tributes to the able officers, who have laid down their lives so that we can sit in our homes safe today,’ they write. ‘This is their job and they have done it wonderfully, but have we done ours? We pay our tributes to them till the crisis are over and the next working day, is exactly that, a working day. We forget all about them till next situation comes up. Our tributes last till the crisis last,’ reads their mail.

We appreciate such voices that rise in search of some goodness during the worst.

Indicine Team conveys heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved one’s and thanks those brave hearts for being there in the need of the hour. The loss is irreplaceable, but we as a nation are proud of our unity.

  • I just think terrorist need to get over what they’re going through and not to do mean things in gods name. Muslim or not you shouldn’t be committing acts of terrorism under any gods name. All these terrorist acts are in the name of the person doing it, they have some psychological issues that need to be addressed. It’s a mental thing not a religion thing because Religion doesn’t cause you to fight. Allah see’s what’s going on and they will pay their price on judgement day.

Whether Pakistani’s want to believe it or not; they too are Indian, their blood is Indian. I don’t understand what all this fighting is about. I’m an Muslim Indian born and raised in America. I love Bollywood and I love all Indian people whether they are Hindu or whatever..

Honestly who the F#@% cares, get over it…… Muslim and Hindus should be one; fightint for the same cause. Just because we’re differnt religions doesn’t mean anything. It’s so freaken stupid and retarded.

Pakistani’s and Indians get over it……..We are in the 20th century, soon we all will be integrated into one, that’s the human race. All cultures and all religions will all be mixed, no one can stop it.

This is reality and we are evolving…so get over this whole religion bullcrap because it’s a bunch of bs.

  • As far as I’m concerned we are all related in one way or another. God (Allah) is our father, what father wants his children to quarrel and hurt/kill each other. I can’t understand how anyone could think god would create sons and daughters just to favor certain ones and then to have them destroy all whom believes differently than they or looks differently or was born of a lower caste. That is just Evil. Pray that God( Allah)opens their closed minds and hearts.
