Bollywood Hits of 2011

More than 150 Hindi films released in 2011 out of which only 18 films did enough to recover the investment of it’s distributors.

Below is the list of the Bollywood Hits of 2011 from Box Office India.

Note: They have not included Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar in the list. The film did reasonably well at the box-office with distributors share of around 32 crores.

Actors

• Salman Khan dominated 2011 with two Blockbusters (Ready and Bodyguard). Like every year, Shahrukh Khan remained the most-consistent superstar; business of Ra One was disappointing after the initial weekend, but Don 2 is one of the year’s most liked films – not to mention, a huge grosser. Emraan Hashmi too had a great year with two blockbusters – Murder 2 and The Dirty Picture. Hrithik Roshan returned after two debacles in 2010, with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – which received both critical acclaim and was loved by the audience.

Actresses

• 2011 belonged to Vidya Balan as both her releases – The Dirty Picture and Noone Killed Jessica – did well at the box-office. Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were at their usual best – both were involved in two successful films each. The under-rated Asin had one blockbuster with Salman Khan. Jacqueline Fernandes is the year’s biggest surprise, her fan-following has increased tremendously especially at the smaller centres after Murder 2.
