The legendary Amitabh Bachchan might soon be a part of the sequel to his yesteryear classic Don, which was remade last year by Farhan Akhtar featuring Shahrukh Khan in the lead. The sequel will be produced by Nadeem Irani and Nasir Irani, sons of the producer of 1975’s Don.
Interestingly Farhan Akhtar and Shahrukh had also expressed their desire to work together in the sequel to their ‘Don – The chase begins again’, soon after the movie release in late 2006. Infact rumours are rife that Farhan is actually working on the script of the sequel.
Says a source close to the Irani’s “Farhan Akhtar announced the sequel to Don as soon as his film released but the status of the project is unknown. Besides Farhan does not own the rights to make the sequel, so how can he start on the project? He has to acquire the rights from the Iranis. And why would they part with the rights when they are planning their own sequel?”
There are also rumours that the sequel will be titled “The Return Of The King” and a lot of special effects will be used!
If both the Don sequel projects materialize, it could well be Amitabh’s Don vs Shahrukh’s Don at the Box-office in 2009!
