Bajrangi Bhaijaan Trailer Review

When the teaser of Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan was released late last month, we weren’t too impressed. The teaser failed to create the necessary impact and the scale, which is very important for big films in today’s times, was missing too.

All that has changed with the theatrical trailer of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The film has every ingredient that is necessary to appeal to Salman Khan’s fanbase in every nook and corner of the country. Unlike many of his films, Bajrangi Bhaijaan breaks away from the monotonous South Indian action clutter. While the film does have comedy, romance, emotion and drama, it also promises to tell a story that will unite the audience and more importantly the people of the two neighbouring countries – India and Pakistan.

At the launch, Kabir Khan said “The issue of politics in the film is very close to my heart”. Salman was quick to add that it’s not him, but the real hero of Bajrangi Bhaijaan is its script. He said it’s the finest script that he has ever read.

Also, what works exceptionally well for the trailer are the dialogues and the humour.  The little girl seems like an angel perfectly cast, Kareena plays Salman’s love interest but it’s unclear if she has an important role to play. Nawazuddin is excellent. As for Salman, he seems to be enjoying his time onscreen too. His screen-presence, style and superstardom is what has worked for him all these years, it continues in Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

For a director, it’s incredibly difficult to direct a Salman Khan film. He has fans in every part of the country, right from the biggest of metro cities to the smallest of villages in India. But Kabir Khan and the makers of Bajrangi Bhaijaan have found the right balance and the perfect story to tell.

Box office expectation: Bajrangi Bhaijaan opens in theatres a day before the Ramadan period ends. The film should open well and then set opening weekend records at the box office. All that the promotional campaign now needs is a chartbuster song, which will help the film big-time. In the long run, Bajrangi Bhaijaan has the potential to be a huge grosser and set records at the box office if the content clicks with the audience.
