SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali is on a record-breaking spree at the worldwide box office, as the film has grossed nearly Rs 120 crore in 2 days.
In the United States of America, ‘Baahubali’ has broken the records of some of the biggest grossers in Hindi cinema – the likes of Aamir Khan’s PK, Dhoom 3 and Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year.
Check out the weekend collections of the films in North America from Thursday (preview) to Sunday. Note that Baahubali collections is for 2 days only, including Thursday preview.
- Baahubali – $4 million (approx, including limited release of Tamil version)
- PK – $3.57 million (257 screens)
- Dhoom 3 – $3.4 million (240 screens)
- Chennai Express – $2.2 million (196 screens)
The Hindi dubbed version has also shown excellent growth in business from Friday to Saturday. The 2-day collections of the Hindi version are as follows:
- Friday – 5.15 crore
- Saturday – 7.09 crore
- Total Collections in Hindi – 12.24 crore
Shankar and SS Rajamouli are by far the biggest directors in Indian Cinema, along with Rajkumar Hirani in Bollywood. No film in the history of Telugu Cinema has crossed the 200 crore worldwide gross and only two South Indian films, ‘Enthiran’ and ‘I’ both directed by Shankar, have managed to gross more than 200 crore at the global box office. Currently, the highest Telugu worldwide grosser is SS Rajamouli’s Magadheera, which grossed around Rs 155 crore worldwide.
Baahubali is likely to be the highest worldwide Telugu grosser ever by the end of its first weekend (the advance booking is extraordinary and ticket prices are at an all time high too) and eventually go on to gross more than 200 crore.
The word-of-mouth is excellent too, so ’Baahubali – The Beginning’ is likely to enjoy a long and successful run at the box office.
Now bb going to suffer by bahubali……..its truly epic movie….
Baahubali collectiona are only due to viual effect and budget hype. All news channels are saying it cost 250 cr. so people eagerly watching.

Gone are the days when a movie relied only on its trailer and songs to lure audiences to the theaters. Today, it’s the era of promotion…aggressive promotion. If the filmmaker doesn’t invest money in aggressive promotion, there are high chances that the movie will be doomed. Similarly, if the movie promotion is treading the wrong path, then again the movie can open to disheartening collection. Well, this is exactly what went wrong with recent releases like ‘Tevar’, ‘Kill Dil’, ‘Happy Ending’, ‘Action Jackson’ and ‘Ungli’.
Be it online marketing or offline, the movies need to be promoted aggressively and smartly. For example: Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Happy Ending’ spent a whopping 13 crore on P&A, besides the production cost of course. However, the movie couldn’t rake in what it spent, and had a lifetime domestic earning of a dismal 21.5 crore! Out of this, the distributors’ share was around 9 crore. So, what did the producers earn? Well, literally nothing!
Similarly, the movie ‘Ungli’ had a very nice concept, crisp writing and the hit jodi of Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut too. What’s more, it came from a reputed production house like Dharma. However, since the movie was in the offing for too long, the makers were skeptical if they should invest too much money on its P&A. Plus, the offline promotion that was generated by the movie’s marketing agency did not help create excitement for this film. This is exactly what prevented ‘Ungli’ from recovering its cost at the ticketcounters. There wasn’t much buzz about the movie, and it crashed at the boxoffice, despite some good songs and a good concept.
95% of films today do not recover the money they invested in P&A. And sadly, there’s no accountability of marketing. Then what’s the responsibility of PR agencies, and marketing agencies? How come the production houses invest a huge amount of money without being confident that the outcome or the result will aid their film’s opening at the box office?
On the other hand, if a movie is marketed well, and the right amount of curiosity or excitement is built around it, the audiences wouldn’t mind thronging to the theaters and shelling out money to buy tickets.

HI guys this is Salman,Well after the stupendous success of Bahubali I was just wondering why not to remake this movie too.But I am in a plight which I want to share with the readers.
First of all the budget of the movie is very high and in case I make the movie with such budget the movie has to do well globally which isn’t possible since my overseas popularity is on-par with Arjun.Secondly the movie has some never seen before action sequences but my fan base would prefer me beating 100 goons at a time with them flying all over via my single punch.Thirdly there isn’t any scope of any cheap item song which my core fan base loves to see.Also the last time I made a period movie it tanked without a trace at the BO even though my I expected it to be a cult classic like Gadar.Lastly none of my friends are ready to be my co-star.I called Srk last night but he told he won’t act in a remake then it was Aamir’s turn to turn down the script since he felt working with me would ruin his image since he is been doing quality movies.I am depressed since it’s been days I haven’t remade a movie.I will always to obliged to South for reconstructing my career.So I just some suggestions from you guys maybe it would help me
