Bollywood filmmakers united against the censorship of the upcoming film ‘Udta Punjab’.
Condemning the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), filmmaker Karan Johar tweeted: “Udta Punjab speaks of the reality of our times… Censoring reality amounts to delusion. The fraternity has to stand by what’s right.”
Mahesh Bhatt said “Censorship is the child of fear and the father of ignorance. Is Pahlaj Nihalani listening?”
Hansal Mehta tweeted ”What is this I’m hearing about? Makes me very, very angry. Delusion or collusion? Why is the establishment so scared of films that mirror reality? Can the truth defame a state? ‘Udta Punjab’ censored.”
Nikhil Advani “I guess the next step will be to submit scripts for censorship. ‘Udta Punjab’ censored.”
Soha Ali Khan ”Anyone who says that drugs are not a problem in Punjab, is either unaware, complicite or has mala fide intention.”
Screenwriter Niranjan Iyengar “If we applied the same censorship rules to our politics, 95 percent of our politicians will have to shut shop! ‘Udta Punjab’ censored.”

‘Udta Punjab’ is scheduled to release in theatres on June 17.
Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap has sent out a series of tweets comparing India to North Korea.

This palhaj nihalini should be kick out from censor board. He and all censor member don’t know the f of film making and such uncapable people are shit for giving a certificate of ‘U’, ‘U/A’and’A’ certificate to films. There is report that movie censor has demanded the word ‘punjab’ to be deleted from movie tilte’udta punjab’ and demand to deleted all sense related to punjab including 89 cuts. That what will be in the movie.
It is said that the decision of censor is influence by political pressure from some party of punjab. I think These party who are involved in druge trafficking are afraid of udta punjab to reviled of truth because punjab election are coming near next year. So, they are afraid of people may rise voice on druge absue then they have no words.
The movie is about substance absue in punjab but they demand it to be in frictional land. Indian censor board doesnot deserve such a illerate member. There should be very mature and educated people who can understand the movie. Now maker are planning to high court for justice. @indicine please published my comment.
