My attempt is to make films everyone can watch, which Khans do wonderfully: Varun Dhawan

Actor Varun Dhawan, who has opted for commercial entertainers in a career spanning 7 films, has said he attempts to do films which the Pan-India audience can watch and enjoy in theatres.

“It’s (doing commercial films) a conscious decision for me because you need the film to do well and commercial films actually mean films everyone within the country can watch” Varun said.

The actor said the attempt is to make the kind of films that the Khans (Aamir, Shah Rukh, Salman), Akshay and Hrithik do, which reaches out to a wide section of the movie-going audience.

“I am just trying to make that attempt, which the Khans do wonderfully… They make films for the entire country or Akshay Kumar or Hrithik Roshan, they make it for everyone. My attempt is only that I can make films which everyone in the country can watch and enjoy” Varun said.

When asked if he would do films like a ‘Badlapur’ which won him critical acclaim as well as box office success due to its low costs, Varun said he has a surprise for his audience at the end of the year.

“100 per cent I will also (do films like Badlapur). End of the year there will be a surprise coming up” he told reporters.

Varun has two films scheduled to release this year. The trailer of Badrinath Ki Dulhania was released earlier today, while Judwaa 2 is scheduled to hit screens during the Gandhi Jayanti weekend.
