After a lot of speculation, it seems that the female lead for the film based on the book Half Girlfriend has finally been found. The film, which will be directed by Mohit Suri, is going to be the adaptation of the book written by celebrated Indian author, Chetan Bhagat.
Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, Half Girlfriend was initially planned with Kriti Sanon playing the female lead. But later on she opted not to do the film.
The focus then shifted to the top actresses of Bollywood. Deepika Padukone was approached along with Katrina Kaif. Sadly, both of them declined the role due to date issues.

But now, reliable sources say, the lead has finally been found and it will be none other than Athiya Shetty.
Athiya, recently made her Bollywood debut alongside Sooraj Pancholi in the movie Hero, which was produced by Salman Khan.
Although, the producers haven’t yet made any official statement, there are reports that Varun Dhawan has been approached to play the male lead.
Note: This should be considered nothing more than a rumour until an official announcement is made from Balaji Motion Pictures.

For the first time, a Chetan Bhagat book adaptation will flop at the box office.
Why would any sane person would make a movie on a novel completely rejected by the readers.The novel is too regressive.You would start hating the protagonist in the first half an hour itself.Not at all interested in the movie.
Waiting for the adaption of Revolution 2020.It was really entertaining and the climax twist was really unexpected had you not read the prologue.If made with a good cast it would certainly be loved by the youth

So one more movie is going to be made on a Novel written by Chetan Bhagat . Half Girlfriend is not as popular as Five Point Someone, One Night at the Call Centre, 3 Mistakes of My Life and Revolution 2020 . This movie is getting too much publicity since the date it was announced . I heard that Varun has opted out of Half Girlfriend because he did not liked his character . I am shocked to see Athiya getting a movie after Hero and that too so early . @ Indicine Also post the news that Sooraj Pancholi had been confirmed by Remo D’Souza for his next movie along with Ajay Devgn .

One more reason to not to watch live-action adaptation of Half Girlfriend, which isn’t as liked as other Chetan Bhagat novels.
Half Girlfriend is looks good but Athiya Shetty is not for that movie.
