Anupam Kher, Ajay Devgn, Madhur Bhandarkar receive Padma Awards

Multiple national award winner Ajay Devgn was honoured with India’s fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri. Devgn’s contribution to Indian Cinema during the course of his 25 year old career, has been immense and the Padma Shri was a recognition that he deserved long ago. More so since actors younger than him, including the likes of Saif Ali Khan, were honoured with the Padma Shri before Devgn.

Actor Anupam Kher, who has acted in nearly 400 films including several acclaimed Hollywood films, was honoured with India’s third highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan. Kher was previously honoured with the Padma Shri in 2004.

Madhur Bhandarkar, the winner of three national awards for films like Chandni Bar, Page 3 and Traffic Signal, also received the Padma Shri from President Pranab Mukherjee.

  • Well deserved.. all of them. They should have received Padma awards long ago.

When even Saif got.. why wasn’t Ajay honoured with Padma Shri before??

  • Let’s celebrate the biggest day

All are Well deserve than all those who sitting Khans for that

Srk copied Kangana’s National Award winning act as kusum for his Film Fan=fiasco.

  • Ajay devgn campaigned for them in Bihar election.

Anupam Kher & Madhur bhandarkar raised their voice for them during intolerance debate.

Now they are rewarded with Padma awards.

BTW, they deserve those awards. Specially Ajay devgan sir should be awarded way back.

  • Seriously doubt the credibility of these honors.Ajay Devgan is any day a bigger star than Saif and has contributed more to Bollywood than Saif.
And it seems Anupam has got his prize for constantly supporting the ruling Government

  • Anupam Kher in January 2010…
“AWARDS in our country have become a mockery of our system. There is NO authenticity left in any one of them.B it films, National or now PADMA”

    Anupam Kher in January 2016…
“Happy, Humbled & Honoured to share that i have been awarded The PADMA BHUSHAN by the Govt. of India. Greatest news of my life:)”

What a shameless Hypocrite this Buddha Anupam is!!!!!

  • This is the best news for me in a long time . I am really happy to see my 2nd favourite Ajay Sir winning the Padma Shri Award . I am glad that he took out his time to come to India and the receive the award in person . Anupam Kher is a brilliant and versatile actor . Many people may not like him for being a spokesperson of BJP but nobody can doubt that he is an amazing actor . Madhur Bhandarkar is a brilliant director and has made some hard hitting movies such as Chandni Bar, Traffic Signal, Page 3 and Fashion . He is wasting his talent by making movies like Heroine and Calendar Girls . When the Indian Government gives you an award for your contribution towards cinema this is the biggest feeling for any actor/director/musician/singer/lyricist etc.

  • why saif and ajay gets award when SRK, Salman, Hrithik, Aamir and Akshay ruling the industry. The film industry lives on them and they didnt get award. In 2014-2015 these 5 guys gave more than 2500 crore business to the industry which is near 50 percent. And still we get to see Anupam, Ajay, saif getting awards. Sick man.

  • @ indicine don’t you think Aamir Khan deserve Padma Vibhushan award? Just because the ruling party is BJP and aamir’s mistakenly comment about Intolerance, they are avoiding him. Isn’t it?

  • Ajay devgn should get this award way before SRK or Saif. .how come Ajay didn’t get national award for OUTM, gangajal, raincoat, hum dil Dae chukae Sanam, Dewan gee, khakee etc.
