12 years after ‘Aankhen’, the sequel to the film is being planned. Aneez Bazmee will be directing the film and Gaurang Doshi will be producing it.
“Yes, Gaurang and I have met over ‘Aankhen 2’. I am right now in Ahmedabad for a function. As soon as I return to Mumbai, we’ll finalise the details.”
The first film, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal, Sushmita Sen and Bipasha Basu wasn’t a huge success at the box office, but the makers are confident that the sequel will have an equally exciting star cast and will be a huge hit.
“Twelve years seems like a long time to sit on a sequel. But what to do? So much has happened since then. ‘Aankhen 2’ will have a completely new cast.” Bazmee said.
“But I can assure you, the actors would be as exciting this time as they were in ‘Aankhen’. God willing we’ll make a stupendous success,” he added.
@Indicine – Anees Bazmee will be directing sequel of David Dhawan’s Aankhein starring Govinda and Chunkey and not the Vipul Shah’s one mentioned by you.

Aankhen was above average at the box office that means it was fairly successful . But it was a brilliant film one of the best heist movies of Bollywood . The concept of blind people robbing the bank was simply brilliant . I personally think that Akshay and Amit Ji should be retained because both of them delivered fabulous performances . In the movie Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Sen die so they cannot be retained . As for Arjun Rampal i feel any actor can replace him . Excited for Aankhen 2 hope it is as brilliant as the previous one . @ Indicine what is the verdict of Aankhen ?
Aanken was a hit though not a huge success according to every leading newspaper and tv channel.I really liked the film and good to see indicine finally acknowledgeing it as a success

Vipul Shah won’t be directing it due to the fall out with the producer. It’s concept was very exciting. It deserves sequel .Whoever does it,will be waiting eagerly.
Akshay should be brought back. Why filmmakers dropping him out of his own film’s sequels ??
Yupp I too think amitji n akshay shd b retained.. Even arjun too.Besides them I guess katrina shd b added in place of sushmita foh the oomph factor.
i liked the first one and the songs of that movie was amazing especially the first song of Akki and Bibasha Basu.

Loved the aankhen, Big b and Paresh were great in the film while Akki has great 6th sense which help him to safe from trouble. But i am not interested in sequal. Lets see.
