Singham Returns has collected Rs 32.09 crore on its opening day at the box office, the 8th highest single day and the 4th highest first day collections of all time! Ajay Devgn has become only the 5th actor to collect more than 30 crores on a single-day after Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan (in that order).
Aamir’s Dhoom 3 is the only film to collect more than 30 crore on a non-holiday and also for three consecutive days – which is a massive achievement!
The 30 crore mark has been surpassed 9 times now and all movies released were after August 15th 2012 (exactly 2 years ago), when Ek Tha Tiger became the first film to collect 30 crore or more.
Aamir has crossed the 30 cr mark thrice, Shahrukh and Salman twice, Hrithik and Ajay once.

Babaji – Both Krrish 3 and Dhoom 3 would have done above or close to 40 crore business on their opening day had they released on a holiday. For me, the most remarkable opening day records in recent memory are of Ek Tha Tiger, Dhoom 3, and probably Bodyguard. Their openings were historic as they broke previous opening day record by huge margin and exceeded trade’s and our expectations. Singham Returns’ opening is also quite remarkable as it also exceeded everyone’s expectation, I don’t think many people predicted 32 crore!
@Cine Lover – Unfortunately for Bang Bang, Haider will prevent it from collecting 40 crores on its any single day.
after watching the trailer of hny it is now certain to all that hny will not be in top 5 movies(box office) of 2014.the hype surrounding hny is as much as krk’s stupidity.

dhoom 3 released during Christmas holidays. Ce had 29 cr on second day so it just missed the mark otherwise like dhoom 3 CE would have also done 3 consecutive 30 cr + days

Bang Bang has huge potential to cross 40 crores on its opening day.but haider may affects this collection for some extent.we hope haider will be postponed.though it is certain bang bang going to be hugely successful and can stands within top two all time grossers

Great achievement for Ajay…But the fact is market is growing big time every year….And prove is Ek Villain ist day collections on non holiday…Now Singham became another successful franchise……..Now the Important franchises are Dhoom,Krish,Don,dabang,Singham,Houseful,Race,Hera Pheri,Masti..
