Alia Bhatt began her career with ‘Student Of The Year’ and followed it up with films like ‘Highway’, ‘2 States’ and ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. Career-wise, the actress was at an all-time high, awaiting the release of ‘Shaandaar’, a film that looked like a winner since it was being directed by Vikas Bahl of ‘Queen’ fame.
Holiday release, top banner, a director coming after directing one of the best films of 2014, a rising actor in Shahid Kapoor, Alia’s following with the youth.. all combined, the result has been disastrous.
Asked if she was disappointed with the not so ‘Shaandaar’ performance of the film, Alia said “Of course, there is disappointment. It’s a first for me. I’ll take this in my stride and move on.”
While ‘Shaandaar’ is the first failure of Alia’s career, 2015 has been a disastrous year for Dharma Productions too as both ‘Brothers’ and ‘Shaandaar’ have failed at the box office. ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ which they presented in Hindi was a humongous success.

Shahid kapoor’s oversmartness is the reason for failure.
Those involved need to pay more attention to the script than thinking a rom com with commercial elements and stars will automatically work.

Actually, it’s Karan Johar who’s the Panauti. He was given a major role in Bombay Velvet and it became the biggest disaster of Hindi Cinema.
He did a cameo in Shaandaar n it too tanked.
Karan Johar is a great film producer n okay director but he shouldn’t attempt acting in the future.

Problem may be that Shahid really does not have it in him. He has been thereabouts for the last so many years and after Haider, thought was that his luck had turned. We thought the same during Kaminey as well, but Shahid will remain an ordinary Vijay Arora, Naveen Nischol like actor all his life
