Rowdy Rathore is running successfully in theaters all over India, with Prabhu Deva being hailed as one of the best director’s for massy action flicks. But few are aware of the fact that, Rowdy Rathore is a scene-to-scene rip-off of Vikramarkudu, a telugu film directed by S.S. Rajamouli (who is considered to be one of the best directors in the Telugu film industry).
The original film featured Ravi Teja as Vikram Rathore and Anushka Shetty as Neeraja Goswami, played by Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha respectively in the Hindi version.

I m a big SRK fan i was against mindless south remakes but rowdy rathore was great movie my ratings for Akshay are 4/5 and who the hell is this ravi teja looks like a monkey. I think Shahrukh should do a south remake which make sense not like lallu bodyguard and ready :p

Good to see that you bought this topic.
I am huge masala film buff, though i am not from south but usually watch dubbed ones on MAX.
Considering the below facts:
1) It was made long back in 2005 (If i am not wrong)
2) Considering the fact that what kind facilities will be available at that time (Technical facilities)
3) This was Regional movie, and a mega budget regional movie is equivalent to average budget bollywood film. (Financial Constraints)
4) Since i watched the dub movie, so its obvious that i need to rate it accordingly because dubbing of any movie will reduce the original impact by 50 to 60 percent
Now lets review the Prabhudeva’s film.
1) It is a scene by scene rip off, and some of the characters are repeated.
2) The Titla and Bhaiya jee in Ravi teja’s movie were more powerful and better than Prabhu deva’s version.
3) Except Akshay everyone was misplaced.
4) In fact, it looked like that Akshay was trying to step up into Athili-Sati babu (Character from Ravi Teja’s fim)…. He was simply imitating his mannerism.
5) Akshay was good as Rathore, but i cant say the same for Shiva’s character as Ravi Teja as Athili was fantastic.
6) This movie is technically better but again this is like comparing action of RAone or Bodyguard with any hollywood flick.
In-short, Rowdy Rathore is one time watch, and may be you may end up in appreciating it if and only if you haven’t seen the original. And i will watch this only and only for Rathore Akshay Rathore.
But never for Athili-Sathi Babu (Siva’s character)…. all those movie buffs, go watch the original one…. its simply fantastic.

Akshay is always grt8 wen it comes to action, the very scene where he demolishes the table with that kick as Rathore was stunning…i dont think anybody can match that kind of accuracy and style.
Ravi teja as shiva was ok since it had more cheesy scenes as shiva with that awkward facial expressions…
The “Don’t angry me” dialogue just made my day
just to add as for movie i think the original was slightly better bcoz it dint rely on a single actor.

Ravi teja was excellent in shiva and rathore where as akshay copied him and hammed all through the film. Original is orignal. Akshay looks old and unmatcable to raviteja in any department.
