Airlift will be the 3rd film in the December – January period to cross the 100 crore mark. It was also the second clash during the same period as Airlift and Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 released together last weekend.
Dilwale vs Airlift vs Bajirao Mastani
At the end of Day 5, Dilwale is leading with collections of Rs 84.6 crore, Bajirao Mastani netted Rs 66.43 crore and Airlift has collected Rs 72.5 crore. The collections of Bajirao Mastani and Airlift are at around the same level, because Airlift benefitted from Republic Day holiday (the first week of both Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani were as good as a normal weekend).
While the ticket prices of both Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale were higher, Airlift had the advantage of a competition free run at multiplexes.

Update 29 January: At the end of Week 1, Dilwale continues to lead, followed by Bajirao Mastani at No 2. Airlift which was 2nd at the end of Day 5, has now dropped below Bajirao Mastani due to drops on Wednesday and Thursday.

187 crores for a Ranveer starrer gives a hope to so many people… The good part is sanjay is a brave man – lion hearted… People advised not to clash with SRK … This gives a confidence to directors to take khans heads on… For so many years directors have been tretead as second class citizens by media … Hats off SLB !!!! Dilwale looks very difficult. BM is impossible, at max it can cross Agneepath. Even RR looks touch and go.
Having said that with this genre and budget of 30 crores, it is very profitbale venture. More than that, the love the movie received from audience is worth more than 200 crores….At 30 crores budget, anything above 110 calls for superhit and anything about 125 is blockbuster

Also, with all due respect to the numbers, 148 crores for Dilwale is a big one but how can the verdict in India be semi-hit if the distributors lost money…It is ATBB in overseas but Indian verdict can’t be semi-hit…In India Dilwale was sold at such high prices that few distributors indeed lost money…Where you lose money, it can not be semi-hit…That is sad that just because we don’t want to hurt SRK fans as they dominate the traffic on indicine, we have to keep them happy by not accepting the fact…
And even Srk himself knows the underperformance in India. Everyone including Srk, Rohit, Kajol are upset and the lead actor-director are not even on talking terms now…Kajol even regretted signing the movie
