Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who awaits the release of his next film ‘Airlift’, has said that the film will make you feel proud to be an Indian.
“Airlift, a true story that will make you #ProudToBeIndian! #Jan22” Akshay tweeted on his official Twitter page.
The film is based on the story of the World’s biggest mass evacuation of Indians during the Iraq-Kuwait war in 1990.
The story of the film is from the point of view of Akshay’s character who helped Indians get airlifted from Kuwait.
The newly released poster of the film highlights “1,70,000 refugees, 488 flights, 59 days, 1 man”
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, Airlift also stars Nimrat Kaur (as Akshay’s wife) and Purab Kohli (who plays Ibrahim Durani).
It will be Akshay Kumar once again during the Republic Day weekend, with yet another thriller after ‘Baby’. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on January 22 2016. It has to be noted that Akshay films during Republic Day have always had strong content, but haven’t gone on to be hugely successful at the box office.
Will he finally be able to deliver a good film that goes on to be 100 crore grosser this in January?

It’s looking like a masterpiece…
It will definitely be highly praised film and should get positive reviews but the collections won’t be very high as it does not looks to be a mass-oriented film. It gives a Deja-Vu feeling of Baby of last year. Also January is crowded month for film release with Sex-comedies-KKHH3, Mastizaade ,Ghayal returns and others which will affect its screen count.
@indicine the one which was released last month was trailer or teaser ? if teaser then when will trailer release ? if trailer than why they released so early ?
Airlift is looking like a brilliant movie and that is indeed a huge compliment because most of the people who have seen the trailer will vouch for the fact Airlift is looking superb . I felt really bad when Baby could not enter the 100 CR Club but i am damn sure this time Airlift will do 100 CR . I am happy to see that Akshay is making the right choices mixing commercial as well as content oriented cinema . I think Akshay sound release 1 movie on Republic Day every year as we will get to see meaningful and patriotic cinema . The movie is making the right noise and i am looking forward for this movie . nowadays content rich films are not making huge money. this movie may struggle @ 90-100 crs if really well made, otherwise less than 80 crs.

@indicine:Any news regarding the budget of Airlift? Many say it is around just 40crs as Akki is sharing profits..So the film will be hit even by collecting 80crs I think.
it will be epic movie of Bollywood. doesn’t matter what will be its collection and verdict. but surely it will be highly acclaimed.

Obviously, Indians will proud of Airleft as they are proud like in Holiday and Baby. I wish good BO collections for Airleft but this movie also can’t collect more than Holiday and Baby.
It Will release in 2500 screens max due 2 clash . 100 cr iz tough because of niche genre nd clash, no open week . It will be a hit if it did 80 plus because it has been sold in only 33 crs …..!
I hve read many pPl saying baby was an under performer but I think baby did exceedingly well ,97 cr for a film which was only 4 D viewers who likes watching intelligent movies. High cost affected it ….!
Airlift will offer entertainment for dumb sallu fans too like @Navin doggy boy . Hope it gets a double figure opening, then there r good chance of making into 100 cr club

Yes again the content will be cash on sentiments like baby.. jus bcoz it wld invoke patriotic sentiments it wld be termed as brilliant movie like baby, no matter how stupid n average n boring it wld be.. its not that the genre limited its collection, its bcoz the movie baby was boring n stupid umlike spl 26 n wednesday of the same director!! Akshay now is slowly becoming a new sunny deol of patriotic movies albeit with lesser chaos atleast in his movies!!
i hope akki will be back with a bang…..he is one of the most versatile actor in Bollywood…. it should collect atleast 125-150crs..
