Airlift has collected Rs 83.5 crore in its first week at the box office, which is the highest ever for a film starring Akshay Kumar in the lead. However, after a huge extended 5-day weekend, Airlift has shown bigger than expected drops on both Wednesday and Thursday.
In Week 2, the film has retained most of its shows at multiplexes, where it performed very well in the first week. The growth that it manages to show on Saturday and Sunday, will decide if Airlift can go on to be the highest grossing Akshay Kumar film – beating the previous best of Rowdy Rathore (134 crore).
Airlift is already a clean-hit at the box office and has every chance of going to be achieve super-hit status.

Neither Barfi nor bhag milkha bhag was niche genre movie .
BMG was a commercial biopic. It had songs ,Comedy nd even glamour.

Although fans of other stars are saying that with their fav star airlift would had collected more . But the question is why their fav star cant do a niche movie like airlift . First tell them to act in a risky niche genre and then talk about collections .
