Abhay Deol in deep financial crisis after ‘One By Two’

A public notice to the effect that Abhay Deol is mortgaging his Juhu flat has brought to light the dire financial status the actor is in.

Sources reveal that the failure of his maiden production venture ‘One By Two’ has pushed him into a deep financial crisis.

The film bombed at the box office and the revenue generated through theatrical business could not even make up for the production costs. The film’s music records too failed to earn much as there was reportedly some misunderstanding on the record label and contract difficulties.

Produced on a budget of 15 crore (including print and marketing), One By Two had Abhay as one of its five producers. The film collected just 2.9 crore at the domestic box office, giving its distributors a share of less than 1.5 crore.

The mortgaged flat is situated in Pandurang Wadi, Juhu in the Co-operative Housing Society area. Though the loan amount has not been revealed, the apartment is estimated to be priced at 3.5 to 4 crores.

When contacted, Abhay Deol said, “I have availed a loan for which I had to give papers for this property as surety.”

If Abhay does not repay the amount, his asset would be declared as non-performing by the bank and seized and auctioned later.

One By Two, a romantic comedy, directed by Devika Bhagat had served as a Bollywood entry for Preeti Desai, Abhay’s girlfriend.
