Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor have been signed to play the lead in Aashiqui 2, the sequel to Mahesh Bhatt’s 1990 blockbuster featuring Rahul Roy and Annu Aggarwal. The film will be a love triangle, also starring Shaad Randhawa.
Produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Aashiqui 2 will be directed by Mohit Suri, who has directed films like Kalyug, Woh Lamhe, Zeher, Awarapan and Murder 2. The music will be comped by Jeet Ganguly.
Initially, the makers had launched a nation-wide talent hunt in search of two fresh faces, but none of the participants could match their requirement. Mahesh Bhatt decided to sign two relatively fresh faces; Shraddha Kapoor who played the lead in Luv Ka The End and Aditya Roy Kapoor who has played supporting roles in films like Action Replay and Guzaarish.
