Aashiqui 2 has shown good growth in business on Saturday as the film collected approx 6.25-6.5 crore at the domestic box office. Competition from Iron Man 3 (which is doing very well too) and two IPL matches on Saturday didn’t seem to have any impact on the Mohit Suri directed film.
The film was made on a low budget, and the investment will be recovered in the first weekend itself! The two day total stands at around 12-12.5 crore, and the weekend total is likely to be in the 19-20 crore range – excellent for a film starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. Who would have expected that Aashiqui 2 would better the collections of Chashme Baddoor?
The word-of-mouth is extremely positive and the film seems to have worked with it’s target audience.
Sunday box office update: Again, the morning shows had much better occupancy compared to Friday and Saturday. 7 crore+
And what’s more, even Iron Man was caught romancing Aashiqui style!

I don’t know why some srk fans and mostly hro fans underestimate amir khan. And hro fans say non sense word hritic rule the boxoffice, wait for this diwali k3 will be the diaster. Amir khan create 100cr club, 200cr club and this year he will create 300cr club insallah. And talash is a non comercial film thats why it can’t cross 100 i think hro and srk fan forgot that znmd and mnik col less than talash. Remeber 3 year gone srk and sallu much hyped film can’t break 3 idiots record and just wait and watch d3 col 300cr plus. I am 100% sure that K3 will be the mixture of ra1 and kites. @romance express. Dhoom 3 wont make or break any record, mark my word. Dhoom 2 became blockbuster coz at dat tym multiplex ruled over single screen and most of the single screen movies didnt do well then. But Gajini and Wanted changed whole scenario now. And now multiplex and single screen contribute equally. I must admit dhoom 3 is going to take earth shattering opening in multiplex but to have good lifetime collection it shud have enough masala elements to please single screen audience. Though race 2 which released few year back did huge business (saif ali khan wasn’t a big star then) but its sequel race 2, with huge buzz, holliday weekend plus descent wom couldnt even able to cross 100 crores(acc. to boi) which is a cakewalk for big films. So my prediction is dhoom 2 wont even cross 150 crores unless it have 3 open weeks and mind blowing action scenes which ett had.

@soroop if there is any film to break salman’s 33 crore opening is dhoom 3 (Mental is unlikely to get a holiday release.) Dhoom 3 is an action movie, action movies opens well in single screens. if any action movie witch won’t open in single screens, that will be srk’s

@khan kapoor. I agree that action movies opens well in single screens, but OTT actions tends to attract them. OR the different kind of actions scenes which ett had. If the action are going to be like in dhoom 2 then i dont think dhoom 3 have much chances in single screen theatres.
