Aamir visits Mountain Man’s village for Satyamev Jayate 2

Aamir Khan on Tuesday visited Gahlaur village in Bihar and met the family of Dasrath Manjhi, who single-handedly carved out a road by breaking a mountain with his own hands.

Manjhi, popularly known as ‘Mountain Man’, worked day and night with nothing more than hammer and a chisel to cut a 360 feet long, 30 feet high and 30 feet wide road through a hill near Gahlaur. He succumbed to cancer in 2007.

Aamir arrived in Gahlaur village and spent around half an hour interacting with Manjhi’s family. The actor was provided security by the local police.

Talking to the media gathering, Aamir said “I am really happy to be here to touch the soil of this land, where a man has created a rare example of making difference with his dedication and commitment of years for selfless cause”

The superstar also said that he has fulfilled one of his long-time wishes to visit Dasrath Manjhi’s place.

Manjhi’s son Bhagirath said he hopes Aamir tells the real story of their lives to the world and helps them get the long-awaited attention from the government.

“We have told the visiting hero that he should tell the world the real story of our lives that may help us to get the long awaited attention of the government,” Bhagirath said.

His wife Basanti Devi said she was disappointed that Aamir was not allowed to the eat the special traditional food prepared by her, as the security officials did not allow him to consume the food.

Sources say, Aamir will dedicate the first episode of Satyamev Jayate 2 to Dasrath Manjhi. The episode will be telecast on March 2nd.
