Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has come out in support of his 16-year-old co-star Zaira Wasim, after her apology post on Facebook generated a huge controversy on social media websites.
The actor, who played the role of a young Geeta Phagat, apologised for meeting Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti – after Kashmiri separatists abused her with the filthiest of language for meeting the CM.
“I have read Zaira’s statement, and I can understand and imagine what lead her to make that statement. Zaira, I want you to know that we are all with you. The beauty is that bright, young, talented, hardworking, respectful, caring and courageous kids like you are role model for kids not only in India, but across the world. You certainly are role model for me! May god bless you. Love Aamir”
“PS: I appeal to everyone to now leave her alone and respect the fact that she is just a 16 year old girl trying her best to deal with life”
Aamir posted on his official Twitter page.
Yesterday, Zaira has posted a long Facebook post (which she later deleting) apologising for her meet.
She wrote:
“This is an open confession/apology. I know that many people have been offended and displeased by my recent actions or by the people I have recently met. All those people who I have unintentionally hurt and I want them to know that I understand their sentiments behind it especially considering that what had happened over the past six months”
“But I hope people can also understand there are certain circumstances that emerge which one cannot control and I hope people still remember that I’m a just a 16 year old girl and I hope you treat me accordingly. I’m sorry for what I did but it was not a deliberate decision and I really hope people can forgive me”
“There are few more things which are very important and I want to clear them as well. The first and foremost thing is that I am being projected as a role model for Kashmiri Youth. I want to make it very clear that I do not want anyone to follow in my footsteps or even consider me as a role model. I’m not proud of what I’m doing and I want everyone, especially the Youth to know that there are real role models out there whether they be in this time or in our history”
“To even consider me as a role model would be disgracing them and their disgrace would be OUR DISGRACE! I do not wish to start an argument here, this was a just a mere confession from my end which I really wanted people to know. May Allah bless us and guide us” she posted.

CM Mehbooba Mufti met Zaira a few days ago! That’s what erupted the controversy!!!
From July 8 around 100 civilians were killed and thousands were blinded here in Kashmir by security forces!
So the anger against CM & BJP-PDP led collation is genuine and unserstandable!!! so when zaira met CM she got trolled!!! That’s why she apologized!!! But media added fuel to it!!! Ground reality in Kashmir is different!!! People generally have hateful sentiments against india and all the mainstream political parties in Kashmir!!! It’s plain truth here!!! You gotta keep this in mind!!!!

Ninth class student Insha Malik, 14-year old girl from Sedow, Shopian has lost both eyes to pellets fired by forces. ‘I was studying inmy kitchen when I heard sound of firing and cries outside(on July 100). I opened the window to see what had happened, but as soon as opened it, forcespersonnel present on road fired(pellets) towards me. I fell down and don’t know what happened thereafter. Later, when I turned conscious, I was unable to see anything around.’( GK, October 18, 2016). The wire-mesh her face and neck has been made due to scores of holes made by pellets is gut wrenching. A 12 year old, class 7th student, Junaid Ahmad from Saidpora, Srinagar was ‘ hit by pellets in his head by forces. Pellets damaged his brain, thus becoming victim number 94 of unending civilian killings’. Ghulam Muhammad Akhoon, fatherof slain Junaid told reporters, ‘ My son was killed in a target fire. He was just at the entrance gate of his house when forces fired pellets at him.’( GK, 9, 10, October,2016).
