Salman Khan’s Son of Sardar item number: Details

The Diwali clash between Ajay Devgan’s Son of Sardar and Shahrukh Khan’s next, is getting bigger and better. Devgan is going out of his way to promote the film and has asked his good friend Salman Khan for an item number. Khan agreed and even shot for one scene recently. Says Ashwini Dheer, the director of Son of Sardar “We shot for one scene with Salman recently. But he will be doing (shooting the rest) the song by the end of July. Presently we are shooting in Mumbai and we have almost finished some portion of the shooting in Patiala.”

Rowdy Rathore: 100 crores in India

Rowdy Rathore is on a historic run at the box-office.  In 10 days, the film has crossed the 100 crore mark and should go past Agneepath, the biggest grosser of the year so far, in Week 3. After a huge first week of 78 crores, the film continued it’s smashing run with a 22 crore second weekend – which is the third highest ever after 3 Idiots and Dabangg. The second weekend is also the biggest of the year, ahead of Agneepath by 6.5 crores and Housefull 2 by 2.5 crores.

Shanghai Weekend Collections: Decent numbers

The trade seems to be hell-bent on writing off Shanghai as a disaster, but considering the kind of film that it was (non-massy, dark) the weekend collections are decent. In comparison, Kahaani too opened similarly but showed better growth over the weekend. But, the big difference would be the appreciation factor.  While Kahaani did very well after the first weekend as it was carrying fantastic reports, Shanghai is unlikely to trend similarly as the word-of-mouth is mixed. It should wrap up under 20 crores nett. Disappointing, but apart from independent distributors, the makers won’t lose money. Commission earner.
