Himesh Reshammiya’s acting debut, Aap Ka Suroor’s leading lady’s identity revealed. It’s our very own Hansika Motwane, child actor who started her career in Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
Reacting sharply to stories about the true identity of Aap Ka Suroor’s leading lady Riia, Himesh Reshammiya says there was no attempt to conceal her identity.
“Yes, Riia is Hansika Motwane. And I believe she has worked as a child actor in several films and TV shows,” says Himesh.
Hansika started her career as a TV actress for several episodes of Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Later she acted in several feature films as a child including the hard-hitting Jaago where she played the central role of Raveena Tandon’s 10-year old daughter who’s gang raped on a train.
Raveena recalls Hansika as a focused, hardworking and very ambitious girl.
Sure enough, Hansika re-surfaced as a mature teenager on Sony’s music show Fame Gurukul and then signed her first big film He -The Only One where she was supposed to make her adult debut opposite Mithun Chakbraborty’s son.
“But when that film got stuck, Hansika and her mother became impatient. That was when she auditioned for Himesh’s film for her acting debut,” says a source.
“My producer, director and I auditioned nearly seventy girls for the part. And Hansika was perfect. She went through an entire re-acclimitization programme. She was put through rigorous dancing classes. Her complete image and look has been changed for my film. But we had no intention of hiding her real identity. Jo hai so hai. She was rechristened Riia because that’s her character’s name in Aap Ka Suroor. And why only Hindi films? Riia (Hansika) has done some films in the South where she played the lead actress,” adds Himesh.
“But Aap Ka Suroor is her real launch,” promises Himesh.
