Hudugaata – Movie Review

Ganesh - Hudugaata Review
Frank Capra’s ‘It Happened One Night’ inspired many remakes including Mahesh bhat’s ‘Dil hai ki manta nahi’ with Aamir khan and Pooja bhat as the lead actors. Now the same movie is being remade in kannada with the title ‘Hudugaata – A Romantic journey’ Baalu Mahender (Ganesh) who is on his way to Kanyakumari to interview a famous sportstar meets Priya (Rekha) in the bus. Priya, runs away from home to marry the man she loves, against her father’s wishes. But quite predictably she falls madly in love with Baalu. Now whom does Priya marry? Balu who helps her reach Kanyakumari, even bearing her expenses by selling his watch and mobile phone or to marry the person she once committed to and loved.Director Sanjay, who previously worked with the famous director S. Narayan, is average in the direction department. The movie drags a bit due to the 7 songs. One song or 10 mins from the movie can be chopped off for better impact. Jassie Gift’s music is good. ‘Yako Ontara’ is melodious whereas ‘Stylo Stylo’ is a foot taping number. Cinematography by Sathya Hegde is brilliant. The movie has been stylishly shot.Ganesh, at an all time high after the super success of Mungaru Male delivers a wonderful performance as a hyperactive press reporter and steals the show. Komal is very good. Satyajit, Shobraj and Avinash have given their best. Rekha hams throughout. Her dialogue delivery is terrible.

Overall, Hudugaata is a movie for Ganesh Fans. Watch it for him!

Rating – 3 / 5
