Continuing our two-monthly feature, here is the updated list of Top 5 Actors in Bollywood
- This list would be based on the approximate box office outcome (Nett collections) of their last five movies
- Only lead roles would be considered. Cameos, special appearances and guest appearances won’t be taken under consideration
- Dated movies won’t be taken under consideration
- Only domestic box office performance is being taken into account
Top Actors In Bollywood
Salman Khan – Dabangg 2 (160 cr), Ek Tha Tiger (199 cr), Bodyguard (141 cr), Ready (121 cr), Dabangg (141 cr)
Salman Khan Total Movie Collections: 762 crore (Average per film: 152.4 cr)
Despite having no release in the year gone by, Salman Khan still stays on the top. Reason being that the sum total of collections generated from his last five films has not yet been surpassed by any other superstar.
This would stay on till year end too since 762 cr is a huge number to be surpassed. Moreover with Mental / Azaad coming in the month of January next year, expect the gap to be further widened.
Shahrukh Khan – Chennai Express (227 crore), Jab Tak Hai Jaan (122 cr), Don 2 (106 cr), Ra. One (115 cr), My Name Is Khan (73 cr)
Shahrukh Khan Total Movie Collections: 641 crore (Average per film: 128.2 cr)
With ‘Chennai Express’ turning out to be an enormous blockbuster, Shahrukh has narrowed the gap between him and Salman to a good extent. Still, there is a shortfall of over 100 crore.
Considering the fact that Shahrukh would have lesser number of releases in months to come (as of now he is only doing ‘Happy New Year’), it would be some time before he takes a big shot at the Numero Uno spot. Still, the gap between him and the number three in the list is pretty big.
Ranbir Kapoor – Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (190 cr – Expected), Barfi! (110 cr), Rockstar (68 cr), Anjaana Anjaani (40 cr), Raajneeti (93 cr)
Ranbir Kapoor Total Movie Collections: 501 cr (Average per film: 100.2 cr)
Courtesy his largely consistent run over the years, Ranbir Kapoor stays on to his Number 3 spot. However he can’t afford to take it easy since his he would need to demonstrate this in months to come as well, what with ‘Besharam’ arriving next. If Ranbir has to beat Shahrukh for the second spot, Besharam would have to collect Rs 233 crore at the domestic box office! Think it is possible?
Aamir Khan – Talaash (90 cr), Dhobi Ghat (14 cr), 3 Idiots (202 cr), Ghajini (115 cr), Taare Zameen Par (63 cr)
Aamir Khan Total Movie Collections: 484 cr (Average per film: 96.8 cr)
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is now ready with his next biggie ‘Dhoom 3’. While it is a given that the film will be huge, ‘how huge’ is what would make Aamir rush past the Number 3 spot and possibly go even higher.
Both from collections as well as average perspective, Aamir is quite close to Ranbir which means ‘Besharam’ vs ‘Dhoom 3’ battle holds all the more significance. For example, if Besharam collects around 140 crore at the box office, then Dhoom 3 would have to collect just 127 crore for Aamir to go past Ranbir and take the No 3 spot. Aamir also has a chance to go past Shahrukh Khan. For that to happen, Dhoom 3 needs to collect Rs 221 crore or more at the box office. Doing so will also give Aamir a great chance of ending the year with the highest grosser! The top spot looks way beyond reach, as D3 has to collect 341 crore for Aamir to go past Salman – which just goes to show how incredibly consistent Salman has been over the last 3 years or so.
Akshay Kumar – Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobaara (63 cr), Special 26 (70 cr), Khiladi 786 (71 cr), Rowdy Rathore (133 cr), Joker (35 cr)
Akshay Kumar Total Movie Collections: 372 cr (Average per film: 74.4 cr)
Big money was put on ‘Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobaara’ and despite the film not doing well, Akshay has moved on fast. Fortunately for him, none of the other actors (who are below him in the box office ranking) could score a biggie in the last two months due to which there was no threat whatsoever.
With ‘Boss’ round the corner, he could well be assured of a comfortable position in the Top-5 for some more time to come. However Hrithik Roshan is pretty much arriving full throttle with ‘Krrish 3’, hence narrowing the gap with Akshay as far as collections earned in last five films is concerned.
If Akshay has to go past Aamir to take the 4th spot, Boss would have to collect 148 crore or more.

@ HNY: I am teaching u simple Maths. Next year Salman’s two highest grossing film will come and his two low grossing film will remove from the list, so the average of Salman’s film will be far better than SRK, who has only 1 release. So till 2014, nothing will change.
In 2015 – Salman’s film is releasing with Prabhu Deva [Wanted and Rowdy Rathore Fame] and with Suraj Barjatya [MPK, HAHK & HSSH fame], so even forget about 2015.
Now let see, what happens in 2016.
@indicine partially agree with u not fully bcoz i agree Aamir was one of the leads in “Dhobi ghat” but not the main lead like in “3 idiots” and “RDB”.also i have seen “Dhobi ghat” in theatres and i clearly remember that in credits Prateik babbar’s name came before Aamir khan and also in maximum sites like IMDB Prateik’s name comes 1st before Aamir which was not in the case of “3 idiots” or “Rang de Basanti”.Anyways thanks a lot.

In 1994 it was an achievement for a hindi film to make $1.5m overseas then HAHK made 71cr
in India, today 3 Idiots has made $25m while Chennai Express has made 226cr in India.
Point is while bollywood superhits are grossing 5x the usual in India 15yrs ago, they are
grossing 13x the usual overseas in same period.
A big growth occured between 2001 & 2010 abroad, though growth has been slow since.
I think bollywood has a fair potential to expand in the US, Australia, South Korea.
Indicine,it feels good when these kinda articles are posted to show the stamina of each superstar on which their fans go crazy these days but it would be more appreciable if you have posted the collection numbers from BOI which makes much more difference in the total of above mentioned films.Anyways liked it.

@Indicine Team in dhobi ghath, even in credits aamir’s name comes last. and look at the release size. so it’s unfair to list dhobi ghath in aamir’s movie list.
Can’t agree with the list bcuz top heroes are chosen based on weeend collection not based on lifetime collection. Lifetime collecfion is purely due to content while weekend collection is due to actors star power.
Akshay has a good chance to climb at No.2.Both BOSS and THUPPAKKI remake are likely to go over 150cr. mark.I noted some loopholes…..1.JTHJ 101.5 cr,not 122 cr 2.Go Goa Gone is missing 3.SRK had promoted Billu aggressively as his own film.Plus, his presence was long enough….My rating of this article= 4.25/5
why people are hell bent on proving Billu as SRK starrer I fail to understand …..or wait …..i think they are jealous of 10 HIT+ in a row feat of SRK…… no doubt SRK was a big part of Billu but saying its an SRK movie only fools can do that……remember the title character ‘Billu’ is Irfan not SRK in the movie and even in the posters you will see Irfan with SRK not SRK alone…….that brings to another silly question then ‘How come Ra one is SRK movie when title character is played by Arjun’ for that I will say even Ghajini is not an Aamir khan movie……be logical guys…..just coz of jealously dont say Billu is “SRK movie”…….

SRK promotes Billu aggressively coz he was the producer of the film.
Salman Khan has returned to the tube as the host for the fourth consecutive time with the seventh season of Bigg Boss. But sadly, the glitzy glamorous event that introduced the contestants and the changed concept of Bigg Boss Saath 7 failed to impress us. We thought that the show would start with a tour of the glass walled house by Salman, like it does every year. Instead, the Dabangg dude kicked off the reality show by praying. He sarcastically asked the Almighty to give him self confidence to host Bigg Boss Saath 7. That’s not all. Considering the series of heated conversations he had with last season’s contestants Imam Siddique and Sapna Bhavnani, he also prayed that he keeps his cool this year. Of course, we did our own bit of praying to, that God not grant this particular wish. After all, viewers – and us, of course – like it when Salman tears the contestants apart. Hai na?
The event continued with the eternal bachelor introducing the contestants one by one. It was Tanishaa Mukerji who entered the house first and showed off a bit of what it was like in there. Her mother and yesteryear actor Tanuja, and sister, Bollywood star Kajol introduced her through a video clip. And more than to see the wannabe starlet simpering and swaying in her introductory song, we were eager to get our first peek at the house. The theme of this season, as the makers call it, is jannat (heaven) and jahanam (hell). The mad cap house has been divided into two parts, each accessible through a different door, white for jannat and black for jahanam. Tannishaa chose white. As Salman Khan said, this time the Bigg Boss house will make everyone go WOW and AAAOW at the same time.
VJ Andy was the second contestant and sauntered in showing off his signature style of shorts and blazer. Salman indirectly told him that he was the next Imam Siddique and yes, wethinks he was completely right. Judging by the conversation Andy had with the Dabangg dude, we are pretty sure that Andy is already in Salman’s bad books. He took the jannat door too. And Tanishaa and Andy were given the task by Bigg Boss to send the other participants to heaven or hell. As the clock ticked on, the others – Gauhar Khan, Shilpa and Apurva Agnihotri, Hazel Keech, Kushal Tandon, Rajat Rawail, Elli Evram, Sangram Singh, Pratyusha Banerjee, Armaan Kohli and Anita Advani – were introduced and sent to their sections of the house by the first two entrants.
The contestants of this season of Bigg Boss are a mixed bunch, but wethinks the makers could have done better. There are so many controversial figures who could have been roped in to do the show. This group will, we hope, add the much-needed masala. After all, Bigg Boss without drama and controversy is like Mumbai without vada pav!
There were a few entertaining guests who came in to add tadka to Salman’s hosting. Akshay Kumar was there to promote his new film Boss. Comedian Kapil Sharma joined Salman on the show along with Upasana Singh and Ali Asgar, who are seen as his aunt and grandma in Comedy Nights With Kapil.
On the whole, the theme of Bigg Boss Saath 7 is perfect. The house looks very interesting, especially the hell side, which will come as a bit of a shock to the inmates, we know. Salman is at his wicked best and looks fit and healthy. Now all we can do is wait for the fireworks and hope for plenty of bang for this show’s buck!

srk is number one now followed by ranbir..charm of chubul pandey is over….upcoming of srk,ranbir,hritik and aamir are better thn salman….salman khan can only dream of overseas records..his highest is 10.75million of ETT even ranbir is done tht with YJHD…At indian box office a vulgar film grand masti can also suceeded so does a dabangg or rowdy rathore…so worldwide number one is real number one for me…

Good list Indicine team, but as per your list one thing is sure supporting roles in a movie can’t be called as a particular star failure or success, so when you taken Dhobi ghat & TZP as Aamir movies why not include srk’s billu and when Indicine talking about 400 cr in a year by Akshay in 2012 they include OMG in that list but now they don’t include that in Akshay’s last 5, so please stick on one formula. Either stick to one way not been create confusion among readers.

and its sure Salman is ruling 4th consecutive year since 2010 and will remain no. 1 next year too., look at the difference between srk & Salman is about 120 cr and that happen when he is not able to break 3 I records but still collected so huge. Congrats to him and in the list one interesting figure both Salman & srk have movies after 2009 means after 3I Historic collection but look at the Dominance of Salman that even no release in 2013 he is far behing and i think after Dhoom 3 Aamir would definately move to no.2 even we include Dhobi Ghat 14 cr in his collection, so dumb srkians look at this srk is nowhere in terms of collection of Salman & Aamir in India. & worldwide,he is still ahead in overseas though.
p.s.:- srk 4 out of 5 released in Holiday Period, Salman have 4 out of 5 in festive period so its perfect picture among SRK vs Salman while Aamir has 3 out of last 5, but good work done by Ranbir & Akshay as they both not having a single release in festive season but still collecting huge.
those saying Salman was afraid for clashes want to say them Salman came against srk in 2006 with Jaan-e-mann though he failed that time but one thing should be in mind the movie which srk doing was Don remake which having a huge buzz that time while Jaan-e-mann had lesser buzz and the product was also not too entertaining. though i like Jaan-e-mann & completely dislike DON. but what happen to so called true global star srk that he was waiting for Salman announcement this year about his comment regarding EID release as whether he release any of his film on EID 2013 or not, rumor were floating that if Salman is absent from EID than srk might release CE on Eid, but official announcement come only after when Salman said he won’t have any release on this EID, so is it not proving who were afraid to come against Salman remeber Salman had guts to release his movie against SRK who was no. 1 & salman wasn’t in top 3 that year 2006 while SRK is afraid to release against Salman when salman is at top & srk is on 2nd in 2013. and those saying Salman having 3 open week at the time of ETT or Dabangg2 the reason being that in 2012 no one dare to come against Salamn for atlease 2 week of his release but this is missing for Srk and in 2011 both Ra one & Don2 having 2 open week but not able to collect Salman non-festive release Ready.
and even Aamir had guts to say at the release time of Talaash that his last movie wasn’t 3 Idiots it was Dhobi Ghat in 2011 which grossed abt 14-15 cr that year, as srk had guts to Say after Billu failure as it was his movie while he was the produce,supporting actor and having presence of himself of half the poster of Billu in 2009, and here someone comparing srk JTHJ with Talaash how fool he is.
if want to compare i will tell in 2004 srk had swades & 2005 Paheli different non-commercial movie while Mangal Pandey in 2005 all of them are known as failure but Aamir’s Mangal Pandey collected much higher than paheli & swades. 2006 Srk had KANK & Don2 both collected 45 & 51 cr respectively Aamir had also two RDB-50 cr & Fanna 52 cr, 2007 Srk had OSO-highest grosser but comparison can be made between TZP-63 cr & CDI-68 cr bt one thing that in TZP Aamir in supporting role & having clash with Biggi Welcome that year, in 2008 Ghajini vs RNBDJ , 2009 3 Idiots Aamir created history & 2012 JTHJ & Talaash both have different zone but as JTHJ had clash and collected 103 cr more 10-12 cr more than Talaash so JHJ is winner but since 2005 to 2008 when srk was on top at that time Aamir simply outshined Srk that time too.
