2013 has been a good year for Hindi music. Two of the most popular albums of the year – Aashiqui 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani – continue to top the charts. A.R Rahman’s Raanjhanna makes it to the Top 10 list this month, along with Atif Aslam’s version of Jeene Laga Hoon from Ramaiya Vastavaiya.
In what will be a monthly feature here on Indicine, we bring you the Top 10 Hindi Songs of June 2013.
1. Tum Hi Ho (Aashiqui 2): Tum Hi Ho is rocking charts everywhere and it’s not different here on Indicine. Apart from lead actors Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shradhdha Kapoor, Aashiqui 2 has also raised the bar for composer Mithoon and singer Arijit Singh. Countless versions of this song are being released on video sharing websites like Youtube, which is an indication of its phenomenal success.
2. Badtameez Dil (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani): The unprecedented success of ‘YJHD’ at the box office has given a further boost to the already popular music album of this movie. Pritam is roaring at the top now with Race 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewaani. Expectations are sky-high from his next biggie ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again’, music of which is all set to release in a couple of weeks.
3. Sun Raha Hai (Aashiqui 2): Bhatts have time and again proved their taste for quality music as we have seen numerous musical hits from Vishesh films. ‘Sun Raha Hai Na Tu’ is another gem from Aashiqui 2 composed and sung by Ankit Tiwary and written by Sandeep Nath. Female version is more of an unplugged kind highlighting the sweetness of Shreya’s deep soothing vocals.
4. Balam Pichkari (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani): Music of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ has managed the rare feat of satisfying masses and classes simultaneously. Amitabh Bhattacharya has excelled big time with his creative unique lyrics. Pritam’s performance is praiseworthy and he can be seen composing for future Dharma Productions movies also.
5. Kabira (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani): Yet another master composition from Pritam Da. Song begins with mesmerizing slow vocals from Rekha Bhardwaj but it is Tochi Raina whose entry ignites the passion of Amitabh Bhattacharya’s wordings. It’s a sufi kinda song which is played multiple times in the movie.
6. Jeene Laga Hoon (Ramaiya Vastavaiya): The duo of Sachin-Jigar is trying hard to win some recognition in the music world. Some of their compositions were noteworthy in F.A.L.T.U , ABCD, Oh.. My God and Go Goa Gone. ‘Jeene Laga Hoon’ has Atif Aslam written all over it. The prolific singer is in full form along with seasoned singer Shreya Ghoshal as they croon mesmerizing vocals together to this track.
7. Tum Tak (Raanjhanaa): Raanjhanaa marks the entry of maestro A.R.Rahman in the Bollywood music charts of 2013. The ever so romantic melody is beautifully sung by Rahman’s prodigy Javed Ali. This will be the only Bollywood album of this selective music director apart from Imtiaz Ali’s Highway which is expected to come in December.
8. Main Taan Aidan Hi Nachna (Yamla Pagla Deewana 2): Punjab’s singing sensation Diljit has lent his raunchy and energetic vocals for the Deols in this dance track from YPD2. The song highlights the unique dancing style of Deols and boasts of some attractive lyrics by Kumaar.
9. Chahoon Main Ya Na (Aashiqui 2): Arijit Singh rendered this Jeet Ganguly’s composition with Palak Muchchal. Aashiqui 2 is undoubtedly the best album of the year so far and along with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani , it has revived the music industry in 2013.
10. Sawaar Loon (Lootera): Talented Amit Trivedi is back with a bang along with Amitabh Bhattacharya for Balaji Motion Picture’s ‘Lootera’. Monali Thakur is flawless in her rendition and the song is already on the lips of music lovers. The album promise a lot and is sure to climb up the ladder in the days to come.
Last month’s music albums which are out of ‘Best Hindi Songs of June 2013’ list include – Shootout At Wadala, Go Goa Gone, Nautanki Saala and Bombay Talkies.
