The actress who rejected SRK’s Baazigar, set for a comeback

After making her debut with Jaan Tere Naam in 1992, Farheen was hailed as the next Madhuri Dixit. With movies like Sainik, Amaanat, Dil Ki Baazi and a few other southern movies, her career in movies came to a standstill.

She was in news two years later when she was rumoured to have wed Manoj Prabhakar, the controversial cricketer, who was already married and also a father. Farheen soon faded away from the Bollywood scene.

Rumours later erupted that the cricketer had abandoned Farheen, and reconciled with his first wife and son.

In November 2006, Manoj appeared again in news when Sandhya filed a dowry harassment case. Meanwhile, Farheen still remained a big enigma.

According to sources, Farheen now resides in Delhi with Prabhakar and they have two children Raahil, 16 and Manavansh, 11. They live with Prabakar’s father and Sandhya’s son Rohan, 25 and his wife and baby.

“So you see I’m already a grandmother,” laughs the 41-year-old Farheen who is all set to make a re-entry into films with the Jaan Tere Naam sequel.

“I couldn’t say no to Deepakji (director Deepak Balraj Vij). I’d do even a bit role for him”, said the actress when queried about her sudden exit from movies. She continues “I turned down Baazigar opposite Shah Rukh as the dates clashed with a film I was doing with Kamal Haasan. After Kalaignan, I was flooded with offers from the South and I accepted them because the money was good and they wrapped up fast. Then in ’94, I met Manoj.”

When asked about her disappearance she says, “I did not disappear. It’s just that I’m in Delhi and chose to keep in touch with just a few of my industry friends like Deepakji, Aditya (Pancholi), and Shakti Kapoor. And though both Manoj and I lead very private lives, we do socialise and people here are avid Bollywood fans and have seen my movies. I just didn’t give any interviews before this.”

Looks like Madhuri has some competition to deal with now!

  • I guess she paired opposite to Ronit Roy in that film….
Its all about luck game in bollywood, had she did Baazigar, her career would have been a successful one

  • @babaji, its not about only luck, hardwork is a major thing dude.

If luck was everything, then all the yesteryear stars’ sons and daughters would have been superstars, as they were lucky to get all big debuts but faded away into oblivion.

like the great Alexander said, fortune favours the brave. luck is an integral part, but hardwork and dedication is more important.

there were talented people who got success in to their heads and threw away great careers in bollywood.

  • so everyday we have to deal with 4-5 articles about srk ?? indicine please stop overpromoting khans especially srk. srk is most overrated in universe

  • she is not madhuri or sridevi to make comeback….
she was just an ordinary heroine who is trying her luck once again………

  • I liked her. But bitter truth is if an actress like Madhuri is unsuccessful in 3 attempts of come back then whats gonna happen to Farheen. May not even click in character roles !!!!!

  • Its great she missed Baazigar because who know what will happen with that movie because in 90’s most of the films also ride on heroine acting too, how can we seen Great pair Srk-kajol who first appeared in that film. So every thing happen for good cause. Let see how she perform in second innings.
