Ta Ra Rum Pum – Movie Review

Most of the recently released movies like Namestey London, Shakalaka Boom Boom, Kya Love Story Hai are all set against a foreign backdrop. Ta Ra Rum Pum is another addition to this list.

Ta Ra Rum Pum directed by Siddharth Raj Anand, is a complete family entertainer. It has got something in store for everyone, formula race sequence for the youth, emotional quotient for the middle-aged and also kid zee special to attract the youngest bubbling crowd to the theatre.

Let me begin with a quote ?The future is not promised to any of us? the past is over for all of us.? This is the shortest possible description of the movie.

Ta Ra Rum Pum sounds Disney and full of fun and pun. It?s no fairy tale either. It?s a tale of human characterization and will power and how it eventually succeeds. It spins around a couple and their two kids, success and failure they face, the struggle and finally their triumph over happiness.

Princess Priya (Angelina Idnani) narrates to us the story ..

Rajveer Singh (Saif Ali Khan), a school drop out, is a pit-crew worker in a racing team with a passion for driving is identified by a team manager, Harry (Jaaved Jaaferi). The same day, he out of the blue, meets a music student, daughter of a business magnet, Radhika (Rani Mukerji), who he falls for instantly.

He is branded for the ?Speeding Saddles? ? a failing race team and transforms from Rajveer Singh to ?RV? ? the race car driver. While his racing career takes off instantly, his love life also blossoms after a brief romance. A few months later, he is both a happily married man and one of the country?s best racers. Fatherhood and greater success both follow and soon he is the Number 1 race car driver in the USA, as well as the proud father of two gifted kids ? Priya alias Princess (Angelina Idnani) and Ranveer alias Champ (Ali Haji).

Life takes a twist in their happy life when RV gets hospitalized for a few months after a bad racing accident. When he attempts to make a comeback, the accident haunts him. He looses his job, fame, money, and house and is led back to the life of Rajveer. However, RV and Radhika choose not to tell their children the truth and construct a skillful pretense of a reality show where they have to live a poor life in order to win a fabulous yet mythical grand prize.

RV and Radhika struggle to keep the false tale of reality show going and keep their children happy, using a blend of fantasy and cheerfulness to pull through in the face of hardship. Then RV meets his biggest challenge, a challenge of life or death. Will he overcome his fear and become the Best Car Racer of the world? Will he win the challenge?

Direction:
Director Siddharth Anand has done a wonderful job. He has handled the race sequences remarkably well and blended the sequences with the plot? with perfection. Many sequences make you moist-eyed while some make you jump with joy. Background music by Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant is fantastic throughout the movie. Binod Pradhan’s camerawork is spectacular. Dialogues by Habib Faisal are natural and well written.

Acting:
Casting is one of the film’s strengths. No one could suit the role other than Saif as the racing champion RV. His personality and striking performance is sure to sky-rocket his fan-following amongst the youngsters. He sure does keep up the spirit of being the Best Father, Best Husband and the Best Car Racer of the world.

Likewise, Rani’s considerate personality instills Radhika with optimism. The actress performs the wife/mother role admirably. Not only has she looked gorgeous, even her performance is flawless.

Angelina Idnani and Ali Haji, the child stars of the movie are adorable. Angelina manages excellently well to put up expressions. Ali is no less competitive. He succeeds in putting across his champ look.

Jaaved Jaaferi a nifty entertainer with excellent comic timing tickles your ribs now and then. He has more of serious role which he performs with ease and excellence.

Overall:
Ta Ra Rum Pum, tops with captivating performances and skillfull blending of emotions. The background music enhances the experience. It?s a perfect family entertainer. The first week should be huge for the Yashraj presentation. Business overseas shoud be excellent and in India, Multiplexes will fetch fortunes for the movie. Recommended

Rating: 3.5/5 (Must watch)
