Rustom continued its excellent run in its second week at the domestic box office. The film has already crossed the lifetime business of films like Kapoor & Sons, FAN to become the 4th highest grosser of the year so far.
The Akshay Kumar starrer will cross the 100 crore mark today to become Akshay’s 3rd 100 crore grosser of the year after Airlift and Housefull 3. Rustom is now certain beat films like Housefull 3, Housefull 2 and Holiday.
But it remains to be seen if the film can surpass the 129 crore total of Airlift and then the 134 crore record of Rowdy Rathore – which has been Akshay’s highest grosser for the last 4 years.

But now according to the recent development HR backed out from the film, since the makers had refused to pay him 60 crore which he was asking for doing Thug.
A close source to the film revealed to a leading daily that Hrithik was asking for a big amount of 60 crore which was felt too high by Aditya Chopra. They tried to negotiate with Hrithik but things did not go well and hence they parted ways.

Rustom is a good movie (one time watch), do not compare it Airlift (which is a great movie)…….
And I don’t think that Rustom can cross Airlift collection…..It will collect around 120-125cr lifetime, because there is no holiday left now…..Rustom collected huge in 1st week because there are 2 full holiday (including Sunday) and 2 partial holiday (Total 4 days holiday)…..So there is no chance to cross Airlift collection…….But still I wish that Rustom will collect more than RR and it will become Highest Grosser for Akki…..

I watched Rustom today . Honestly its a pretty average movie . Akshay has done a superb job . Esha was terrible as Preeti Makhija . Ileana was ok but she could have done better . In most of her scenes she was shown as a weak lady and her performance was ordinary . Arjan Bajwa has done a good job as Vikram . Pavan Malhotra and Kumud Mishra have done really well . The length of 140 minutes is pretty long for a thriller . Also the pace of the movie is very slow especially in the 2nd half and thrillers are expected to be fast paced . The direction is pretty ordinary and not as exciting as Neeraj Pandey . There were many instances where a lot of things were shown which were not convincing . The climax is a big letdown . The courtroom scenes could have been crispier . The makers tried to portray patriotic element which was not necessary and lookd forced . Rustom is based on KM Nanavati Murder Case which is one of the most landmark cases in Indian Judiciary but the execution was not upto the mark . They could have made a better movie as movies based on real life events can be superb – S26 and Airlift . I am really surprised to see the kind of business Rustom has done . After RR Rustom had the best pre release buzz for Akshay in this decade . The buzz of Rustom was much higher than S26, OUATIMD, Holiday, Baby, GIB, Brothers, SIB, Airlift and H3 . Akshay Kumar+Pre release buzz+ tight budget are the biggest reasons for the success of Rustom . The kind of credibility Akshay gained with OMG, S26, Holiday, Baby and Airlift is reflecting in the collections of Rustom . People have now started trusting Akshay for his choice of movies and this is a welcome change after the terrible period from 2009 to 2011 .
