Ranveer Singh apologises for insensitive advertisment

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who was criticised on social media for being a part of a insensitive advertisement, has apologised and said he respects women a lot.

In a Jack and Jones advertisement, Ranveer is seen lifting a woman on his shoulders with the tagline reading ‘Don’t hold back. Take your work home.’

Soon after it was put up on hoardings across different cities, well-known actors like Siddharth (Rang De Basanti fame) took to Twitter to slam the advertisement for being sexist and for showing insensitivity towards sexual harassment of women at the workplace.

“It was important to give the brand the creative freedom while designing the campaign but I guess we got it wrong on one of those billboards. I am sorry this happened but it is a thing of past. We rectified it immediately by having the hoarding taken down as early as possible from over 30 cities overnight” Ranveer said in a statement.

“I treat all women with utmost respect both professionally and personally and would never do anything to disrespect them” he added.
