UPDATE 11PM: With collections pouring in from various centres, PK was rock-steady at the box office on Monday. As we reported in the noon, Monday business is more than 18 crore. Multiplexes have sustained very well, even though most were running to packed-houses on Friday. Some single-screens were better than Friday, which suggests that the word-of-mouth is extraordinary even at centres where the film didn’t open well. A few exhibitors have also reported that PK has excellent repeat-value, with people returning back to watch the film again. The 4th day business of PK is likely to be around the 20 crore mark, taking the total to 115 crore net.

PK is proving to be unstoppable both at the domestic and overseas box office. The film has sustained well on Monday and it should put up terrific numbers for the 4th day in a row.
At almost every big multiplex, the occupancy is significantly higher than both Happy New Year and Kick.
We spoke to leading film exhibitor and distributor, Akshaye Rathi, about the Monday trend of the film. Here’s what he had to say.
“PK is sustaining fabulously on Monday. A and B centres are phenomenal, while C centres are on the lower side. I expect the film to collect more than 18 crore today. Occupancy at cities like Nagpur is terrific. The film is doing well at single-screens too, 12PM show was packed to capacity on working weekday!” he says.
When asked about the long term prospects of the Rajkumar Hirani film, Akshaye says “PK should do Rs 250 crore in India, bare minimum. On the higher side, anything is possible. It has plenty of holidays in the next few days, schools and colleges will be shut for Christmas and New Year too”
It remains to be seen if the film can cross the 20 crore mark on Monday. Currently, the highest non-holiday Monday record is held by Dhoom 3 (Rs 21.71 cr). If PK can get anywhere close to that figure, it would have a great chance to become the first film to Rs 300 crore.
PK is performing better that what I expected. Still I think Kick will be the biggest grosser of 2014, but if PK will continue to run with the same pace then Sky is the limit!
PK rocks…even though it is not his best..he deserves all this succes for the kind of movies he makes…

I was an ardent IMBD believer till I saw this. A movie called “The Interview” is currently rated 9.9/10 on IMBD. And hold your breath, the movie is yet to release! The movie’s release got cancelled because of threats from hackers. The frustrated movie viewers decided to rate the movie 10/10, and now it sits at a score of 9.9 even though no one has seen the movie! .lol.
Will never trust IMBD after this!
Saw the movie yesterday and guess what it was fantastic. I do not know y people r criticising this.it is actually raju hiranis best movie till date. And it is in same genre of omg but totally different story n presentation. I am an srk fan but I will this movie is best of the year. Aamir did wonderful job fantastic. But I think shahid will walk away with best actor 2014. N u hope this movie goes to Oscar. People who haven’t seen go n watch once my challenge u will fall in love with . PK emerges the biggest hit of the year as it has a super strong hold on Monday with collections set to come in at around 19 crore nett and may be even hit the 20 crore nett mark. The weekend figures suggested a higher lifetime nett total than Kick but the way it has held on Monday means the key all India distributor share will also go higher.
The business has seen a 30% drop at multiplexes from Friday which has a lot to do with lower ticket prices. The business at single screens has not dropped much and is at the level of Friday as they were not huge on Friday.
The film can challenge the opening week record of Dhoom 3 although Monday will be similar to Dhoom 3 and weekend is lower it may make ground over the Christmas period as this is more of a multiplex film and they do better business in Christmas period so gains can be more Dhoom 3 especially on Christmas Day and the day before.Now haters where are you do whatevet you want to do man but pk is unstoppable and is already biggest hit of the year, sure shot 300cr.

the script is better than HNY and kick.so it might get trend better no chance of breaking d3’s record forget 300cr club.but yes pk can break d3’s record only when rentrak will track boi and both will show exact figure with producers then at that time surely it will prove rentrak and boi are paid as well as are big frauds.

No denying Hirani Sirs place now amongst the director legends of our industry and Aamir can too proudly hold his head up high when compared with the legends of our industry… PK cements their legacy for me as the best in a generation- salute to you both….!

PK will set new lifetime n overseas records that will take years to break- sad fact about PK is that Aamir will once again go missing from the big screen for min of 2 yrs and max of 3-4 yrs- he normally takes a yr to sign a film n undergoes a year long preparations n post priduction takes considerable time so 2017 is the earliest we may see him on the big screen… I bet only then when his next arrives will PKs record be broken…!

300 cr is impossible, even if it collects 180 cr in first 7 days, to collect 120 cr after that for the rest of the dates is out of reach, it will collect at the most 210-220 cr that only because of the holidays and three open weeks
stardom does not only include box office collections, more so when you release only one film in a year and that too during lucrative holidays and monopolise the ticket pricing and arm twist the cinema screens, if you have guts then release the same film in non holiday with only one open week, then true picture will be seen, the collections will be less than 50 %
it wont touch even 200 crore…but there are some websites who r destined to make it even 300 crore..by total fabrication. cheap publicity.

The word of mouth is extra ordinary here in UAE. I have been trying for the tickets for the last 3 days but couldn’t get them because of the houseful. Will surely watch it today.
