Om Puri’s last film will be Salman Khan’s Tubelight

Veteran Actor Om Puri, who passed away earlier this morning, will make his final appearance on the silver screen in Kabir Khan’s upcoming film ‘Tubelight’ starring Salman Khan in the lead.

Puri, who had previously played an important character in Kabir-Salman’s last film ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, will also be seen in a film ‘Viceroy’s House’ which releases in the first half of this year.

While we haven’t been able to get confirmation on whether Puri completed his part of the shoot, Kabir Khan tweeted earlier today recalling some of the memories they shared.

“Omji… u were laughing with us on set just a few days ago! We have lost one of the greatest actor & the warmest person in the film industry. I will miss that warm tight hug that you gave me every morning on set. Khudahafiz sir… you were the best!” Khan tweeted.

In one of his earlier interviews, Om Puri had spoken about the character that he plays in ‘Tubelight’.

The actor had said “I have a very interesting sympathetic character. If you remember I had played a sympathetic liberal Pakistani mullah in Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan. It’s good to be cast in characters with unexpected shades of empathy. Kabir knows how to use actors in the best way possible”

Om Puri passed away at the age of 66 after suffering from a massive heart attack.

  • @The Unmatchable MAkkhi : First check your IQ and learn to read the entire article before jumping to any conclusion. It was Kabir Khan (director of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and upcoming Tubelight) who tweeted this and not Megastar Salman Khan. Khud ki koi aukaat nahi chaley dosron ki dikhaaney !!!!!!! Lol

  • Om puri didnot make any deregetory remarks on soldiers. He is known to speak his heart out and that may not sound politically correct always. His contribution for indian cinema is indispensable and his loss cannot be replaced. Life is just a journey and what a journey he had. We love u sir and ur love for people beyond ur own diaspora made u truly international icon. Ur a class and class is permanent, sir u will always remain in our heart. Thanks for making us smile, making us cry, making us think, making us brave enough by being bold and exemplary and noth withstanding giving us hope by playing wonderful characters in ur movies. Through out ur journey through ur films u lived with us sir. Only in milleniums people like u r born who can lead from the front by remaining undettered with circumatances. Bow to u good bye, may god rest u in peace. Love u.
